Introduction

It’s worth noting that the teams shown may not necessarily end up being the final teams or the transfers may have been made in the days prior to the posting . It’s an informal situation to give you an idea of trends. However the FFGeek team and the Contributor tracker team mentioned above on the FFGeek Patreon site all make transfers as articles are posted. So you’re always up to date and live

A decent enough week. Having both Trent and James missing from the starting line-ups was far from ideal, but seven other players grabbing returns was enough for a small green arrow. Pretty happy with that.

Chips

Chip-wise, I only have Bench Boost left now, so my transfers need to focus around either getting the most from that or preparing for the doubles that are left. While GW36 might be more appealing for a Bench Boost on paper, without a Wildcard my bench isn’t going to be boasting too much quality regardless of when I play it. In GW33 I’ll have Wood and Broja doubling with decent fixtures and I either have to bench them or clog up the pitch when I clearly have better players with a single. For that reason, I think I’ll just get BB over and done with in GW33. Hopefully the extra players might help me keep up with the Free Hitters.

Transfers

Assuming the conferences don’t reveal any issues, I’ll use one of my FTs to sort another keeper that doubles in GW33. Schmeichel is an obvious choice due to his other doubles down the line. Next week I can use my two FTs to bring in Maddison and Brownhill for Raphinha and Ramsey. That will give me seven doublers for GW33 plus Kane, Salah, Kulusevski, Rudiger, James, Doherty, Trent and Robertson. I miss out on Man U assets that Free Hitters will surely pick up, and I’m vulnerable to rotation or illness, but DGWs 36 and 37 should be easy enough to prepare for if I don’t need to worry about my bench as well. It seems a solid plan as long as nothing happens to disrupt my transfers.

Captain

Captain will be Kane this week. Salah vice.

Gameweek 31 review:

Well after a long international break, it was back to it, with a few surprises along the way.

Routine 2-0 wins for Man City and Liverpool means it’s still nip and tuck at the top. But Chelsea fell apart at home to Brentford and Arsenal suffered a Monday night shocker at Selhurst Park. Spurs hit Newcastle for five but Killer Kane didn’t get any of them, with landslide captain favourite Mo Salah drawing a blank.

The best game of the week was reserved for a cold wet Wednesday night in Lancashire where Burnley saw off Everton 3-2, a result which threatens the Toffee’s 67 year stay in the top flight !!

My GW31 score and rank and wrap up:

I scored 66 points, which means I outscored the top 10k average by 20 points for the 2nd successive week. Definitely unexpected. A Rudiger thunderbolt and two clean sheets at the back provided the foundation, with Son’s 12 pointer backed up by an incredible 17 points from big differential Richarlison on the final game. A double game week punt came off for once.

Three successive green arrows is very pleasing, just as my season was disappearing over a cliff at 226k. Up this week from 160k to 125k. A 20% rank rise for the second successive week. That’s certainly added some momentum and respectability to my season.

My Son v Kane duel is not good for the nerves but I came out with a 12-4 win this week. With Son my only Spurs asset, it’s a very tough watch when many are tripled up on Kane, Kulusevski and Doherty. It was a relief to see Son outscore both Kane and Kulu combined. Son made it back to back double figure hauls with his 12th return in his last 16 games. Nobody has scored more goals at home than Son. Those Son to Kane for a hit thoughts firmly on hold.

Instead it was Doherty who hit me hardest. His heavily owned 14 pointer was the only significant points against me this week. Spurs remains a nervous watch though right now with all those rank threats.

My other battle of nerves I have found myself in is Martinelli v Saka. The ownership of Saka is sky high around my rank level and in the top 10k. I came through unscathed this week , a let off given Martinelli was benched. But being without BOTH Saka and Kane is a potential time bomb that can derail my season at any time. That’s firmly on my mind this week with my transfers.

I am happy with my investment in the premium defence. Trent Alexander Arnold didn’t play this week but I like the Trent, Robertson double up, with Cancelo and Rudiger. Three defender returns this week. Ideally I would like James over Rudiger to have the dream four attacking full backs. I wouldn’t mind adding Doherty to my defensive portfolio too. That’s my aim if I can get Digne to Doherty.

Raphinha managed a controversial assist but he continues to flatter to deceive and seems allergic to double digit hauls. He could well be playing his last game for me this weekend.

I started De Gea over the potentially injured Ramsdale. The clean sheet odds were the same. I regretted it once De Gea conceded and Ramsdale got the start. But I escaped and came out a point better off. I will need to downgrade De Gea soon with several cheaper keepers on future double gameweeks including when I will likely bench boost in GW36.

I am a sucker for poor teams on double gameweeks. I have the Dennis and King, and Weggy t shirts to prove it. I went for the Weghorst, Richarlison double up, bringing in Richarlison for the suspended Jimenez.

Weggy was awful for 3 points across the two games but Richarlison delivered 17 points. In truth he could have scored a few more goals over the two games with ELEVEN shots in the box, but I was very grateful for his two spot kicks. I might dye my hair blonde now this week in celebration. The cat was a bit confused at my five laps round the living room after his two Toneyesque pens.

So three back to back green arrows and my season is not dead in the water after all. What a strange game this is.

So what next and what transfers am I considering ??

I have one free transfer and zero in the bank.

This is a gameweek I am not particularly looking forward to. Kane is the likely captain favourite so the Son v Kane battle takes on a squeaky bum significance. I don’t own Saka who faces Brighton. I have three premium defenders wrapped up in the Man City v Liverpool game which usually produces a few goals. Who to captain ??

My transfers are now going to be shaped with blank and double gameweek planning. I have three players who blank in GW33, Raphinha, Digne and Ramsay, so losing at least one of them seems sensible. I have just four players doubling in GW33 but I do have some attractive games for my single game players. If I can turn a couple of GW33 blankers into GW33 doublers over the next two weeks, then I am in good shape.

I still plan to move Raphinha to Maddison ( or Barnes ) in GW33 but I am at least 0.3M short. So I will need a further enabling transfer this week or next. Raphinha has Watford this week so I will delay that move to GW33 when Leeds blank and Leicester play twice. It looks a solid move with Leicester having three doubles still to play. So where to raise the cash ?

De Gea is a potential cash cow but I want to hold him to keep my options open for a GW33 bench boost as he has a double which includes Norwich. Weghorst is another but plays Norwich this week and then doubles in GW33. I can move Digne to Doherty but it’s currently 0.1M short to enable Maddison next week but would potentially get me Barnes.

Richarlison is therefore the obvious downgrade route to enable Raphinha to Maddison next week. I don’t mind taking the Richi points and running as he was a double gameweek punt and has tough fixtures. Mateta has some attractive fixtures and is in good form. Adams doubles in GW33 and would give me three doubling GW33 strikers, which would again open up a GW33 bench boost. I could roll and do those two moves next week.

But I could do with losing a Villa blanker as well as Raphinha. I don’t want to be sitting on three blankers going into next week. One option I am considering is removing Ramsay who blanks in GW33, and covering the high ranking risk of Saka who plays at home to Brighton and then doubles in GW33. I can fund that by switching Richarlison to Mateta, although to get Maddison next week, I might have to get Cucho of Watford instead.

The above move pushes me into three cheap strikers which is not ideal and commits me to a 451 or 541 strategy, and also makes bench boosting very difficult, as unlike Kane owners, I need to find doubling opportunities for three cheap strikers.

That’s partly why I haven’t ruled out a GW33 bench boost. Weghorst and Broja double in GW33 but don’t in GW36. I have two GW33 doubling keepers. Yes I can get 11-13 doublers in GW36 but will I struggle to get much of a bench together if I go forward with three cheap strikers. It’s the bench that counts in a bench boost. I can easily get 11 starting doublers anyway in GW36 if I bench boost in GW33 when my worst players have doubles.

The risk of bench boosting GW33 is doing so with 6-7 single game players who might not play and therefore whip the bench away. But Son always plays, my three Pool will surely play v Man Utd, Cancelo and Rudiger don’t have European games after it. That’s my dilemna but I might still probably go with bench boost GW36 with the security of 11-13 doubles.

My GW32 team:

Captain will be either Son or Salah, or even Saka if he comes in.

I will update my transfer plans on my Twitter account at least one hour before the deadline.

Good luck everyone !!!!

Despite a generally uninviting set of fixtures for my team this GW, I’m try to play the longer game and put myself in the best possible position for the double gameweeks and for when bench boosting in GW36.

So I’ll be saving the transfer this week, with a view to a mini-wildcard ahead of GW33.

It will be Raphinha’s last game before he is moved on (probably to Maddison) so I’m hoping he goes out with a bang!

Captain will be Kane.

Best of luck to you all.
