Here’s our fantasy premier league transfer tips GW13 article where we analyse the teams of 10 top FPL managers. These 10 managers have not finished outside the overall rank of the top 10k in the last 3 seasons. Considering how variable the last 3 years have been this is remarkable consistency and shows an ability to adapt strategy in different seasons. It also gives you a view other than my own on strategy and player selection.

Introduction
The criteria I’ve always been looking for is managers who’ve finished in the top 10k for the last 3 years when FPL has become considerably harder due to the amount of people playing and the information available.
The 10 managers stats
I’ve given the identities and FPL IDs of the 10 FPL managers in the FFGeek Patreon site
It includes our very own Yaniv Salomon who you can follow on twitter here
These managers are incredible and every bit as impressive as last season.
1. The overall average finishing overall rank of the top 10 managers in the last 3 seasons is 3,860
2. The top 10 FPL managers have not been out of the top 10k in the last 3 seasons (ie 30 times playing)
3. 7 of the 10 have finished in the top 1,000 in the last 3 seasons
4. 1 of the 10 have finished in the top 100 in the last 3 seasons
Their basic stats after GW12
There were 3 green arrows and 7 red arrows
The average points score in GW12 was 58
The average overall rank of the top 10 FPL managers was 476k. That’s 7k better than last weeks average of 468k
The median overall rank was 220k
The average total points are 743. Median points 746.
The average team value was £103.5m.

GW12 Captain Choice
9 managers captained Salah
1 manager each captained De Bruyne
The FFGeek Captain Poll showed 57% were captaining Salah, 11% Kane and 10% Vardy
Formations
Didn’t get that unfortunately
Transfers:
transfers in
Salah was transferred in 9 times
3 managers transferred in Bamford
2 managers transferred in twice
no other player was transferred in more than once
transfers out
Ziyech was transferred out 4 times
Calvert Lewin and Vardy were transferred out 3 times
Jota, Sterling and Fernandes were transferred out 2 times
No other player was transferred out more than once
Wildcards and Chips
9 managers have used their wildcards to date. 1 has used his triple captain chip
No managers used their wildcard in this gameweek.
The top 10k overall rank vs the 10 FPL managers
Here’s a comparison between the top 10k overall rank ownership % and the 10 top FPL managers. You can see there are huge differences in the 3rd column so plenty of places to make ground.
The top 10 managers favour far more strongly Martinez, Lamptey, Dallas, De Bruyne and Salah than the top 10k
The top 10k favour more McCarthy, Zouma and Kane
The template
I use the 10 managers as a proxy for serious managers teams and have a basic rule of thumb that if 7 of the 10 managers have a player or a team defence then I will seriously consider getting that player .
Here’s the template on that basis. The difficulty with tracking the template is that you’re 1 game behind it as you obviously can’t see what their transfers are leading up to the gameweek opening.
Villa defence – Martinez
Chelsea defence – Chilwell
Salah
Grealish
Son
De Bruyne
Bamford
That’s 7 players.
The Brighton defence is also represented 8 times but will be on the FPL bench often so could be excused from the template. Leeds have 7 defenders although 1 is Douglas who’s on loan at Blackburn so I haven’t counted him.
One managers team
This manager was the highest scorer this week with 80 -4 points. He is however the lowest ranking manager at just on 2 million overall rank. His last 3 seasons are outstanding at 3k, top 500 and 1k.
He interestingly only has 4 of the 7 template players He doesn’t have a Chelsea defender (template replacement Justin). He doesn’t have De Bruyne (template replacement Mane). He doesn’t have Grealish (template replacement Soucek although that has given him more money to invest in Vardy)
The combined 10 top FPL managers teams
Here’s a team which tries to make a combination from the most represented players. Please note that it is meant to be a menu of players to help you choose your transfer rather than a realistic team and it’s value is not necessarily achievable. This week it is definitely not achievable at £105.8m
