Here’s our final fantasy premier league transfer tips article where we outline how the 10 top FPL managers finished the season. Prior to this season these managers had finished in the top 10k overall rank the last 3 seasons
Fantasy Premier League Transfer Tips – The Final Position Of The 10 Top FPL Managers
Note over the off season I’ll be doing a series of strategy articles focusing on how I play FPL on the FFGeek Patreon site.
Introduction
The criteria I’ve always been looking for is managers who’ve finished in the top 10k for the last 3 years when FPL has become considerably harder due to the amount of people playing and the information available.
A reminder of the 10 managers stats
I’ve given the identities and FPL IDs of the 10 FPL managers in the FFGeek Patreon site
It includes our very own Yaniv Salomon who you can follow on twitter here
These managers are incredible and every bit as impressive as last season.
1. The overall average finishing overall rank of the top 10 managers in the last 3 seasons is 3,860
2. The top 10 FPL managers have not been out of the top 10k in the last 3 seasons (ie 30 times playing)
3. 7 of the 10 have finished in the top 1,000 in the last 3 seasons
4. 1 of the 10 have finished in the top 100 in the last 3 seasons
Here’s how they finished
So you can see from there that they finished the season with an average overall rank of 34k. It’s worth noting that the median overall rank is 13k.
The combined total of individual players
I’ve generally only included where there is a minimum of a player in 3 out of the 10 FPL managers teams
The Free Hit team isn’t included. The original team is counted instead
Goalkeeper/Defence by player
Alexander Arnold is in 10 of the FPL managers teams
Dallas is in 8 of the FPL managers teams
Martinez, Forster, Digne and Konsa are in 5 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Rudiger is in 3 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Mendy is in 3 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Goalkeeper/Defence by team
I have stripped out non playing GKs
Liverpool are represented 12 times in the 10 FPL managers teams
Villa are represented 10 times in the 10 FPL managers teams
Leeds are represented 9 times in the 10 FPL managers teams
Chelsea and Everton are represented 7 times in the 10 FPL managers teams
Southampton are represented 5 times in the 10 managers teams
Palace, Brighton, Man Utd and Fulham, are represented 3 times in the 10 FPL managers teams
Midfielders
Salah is in 10 of the FPL managers teams
Raphinha is in 9 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Lingard is in 7 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Son and Greenwood are in 5 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Mane is in 3 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Forwards
Kane is in 10 of the FPL managers teams
Antonio is in 6 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Bamford is in 5 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Calvert-Lewin is in 4 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Iheanacho is in 3 of the 10 FPL managers teams
The final template
I use the 10 managers as a proxy for serious managers teams and have a basic rule of thumb that if 7 of the 10 managers have a player or a team defence then I will seriously consider getting that player .
Here’s the template on that basis. The difficulty with tracking the template is that you’re 1 game behind it as you obviously can’t see what their transfers are leading up to the gameweek opening.
Everton defence – Digne
Villa defence – Martinez
Liverpool defence – Alexander Arnold
Leeds defence – Dallas
Chelsea defence – Rudiger
Salah
Raphinha
Lingard
Kane
That’s 9 players. Rudiger and Raphinha were added
One managers team
Here’s the manager who finished the highest in 123rd overall
His score for GW38 was 82 -4. His total points are 2,601 and his overall rank is 123rd overall. His team value is £105.3m. His last 3 seasons ranks are 8k, 7k and 9k
He has 8 of the 9 template players mentioned above although his Chelsea defence is Mendy not Rudiger
His template replacement player is
Coufal instead of Konsa
The combined 10 top FPL managers teams
Here’s a team which tries to make a combination from the most represented players. Please note that it is meant to be a menu of players to help you choose your transfer rather than a realistic team and it’s value is not necessarily achievable. This week it would have been achievable by many at around £104.3m
