Introduction

It’s worth noting that the teams shown may not necessarily end up being the final teams or the transfers may have been made in the days prior to the posting . It’s an informal situation to give you an idea of trends.

However the FFGeek team, the Transfer Planner Team and the Contributor Tracker team Plus the Contributor teams of Rob, Rick, Andrew, Kris, Kev and Joe mentioned above on the FFGeek Patreon site all make notified transfers live as they are completed. So you’re always up to date and live for a maximum £3 PCM.

The reference to 19 top managers is from the article where I follow 19 top FPL managers who have finished in the top 10k overall rank the last 3 seasons

Harry Vernon

Harry’s last 7 seasons are 74k, 35k, 86k, 22k, 6k, an incredible 224th and 6k

GW29 points: 15 (19 Top managers average 18) Total points: 1,828  Overall Rank: 7k, red arrow 1k,   Team Value: £106.1m

Harry used his Triple Captain in GW25

My team returned a paltry 15 points in GW29. I think it is the least points I have had in any Gameweek in playing 12 seasons of FPL. However, my overall feeling was that of relief.

I had saved my Free Hit chip and had not got a big red arrow.

The DGW34 fixtures have been released and with Spurs blanking and ‘probably’ doubling in GW35/6 and 37, my BB34 and FH37 strategy is now dead.

So it looks like WC30/1, FH34 and BB37 are the way to go.

The first big question is when to WC?

My team is pretty solid with a Spurs triple up for their plum home fixture against Luton. I bought Salah in early for Bowen before his price rise. I also own Palmer for Burnley at home. My midfield is certainly good enough. My concern is my attack and defence. I have Watkins but Darwin, Isak and Haaland look more fun to me. An early WC would allow me to get double Chelsea defence against the low scoring Clarets.

I have been 50:50 about holding my WC for another week. My team may score slightly better, I may gain some team value, I will probably buy similar players.

I will have an extra free transfer.

The downside is GW37 is a very long way away and players can get injured/ dropped. I don’t really want to be using transfers on bench fodder.

As I write, I have heard that Richarlison is a ‘doubt’ for GW30. I already have Regulion suspended and 3 Luton players, plus Gabriel who travels to Man City. This may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

If I do activate my WC I will probably go for something similar to this team below.

Captaincy is close between Son and Salah. At the moment I favour Salah.

Transfer summary: Probable Wildcard

GW29 Review

The less said about GW29 the better, a howler of a gameweek. To lose another 9k of rank on the Free Hit is hugely disappointing, I guess the only crumb of comfort is that most other managers suffered the same fate. I can’t recall the last time I had a week with no returns, and the tone was really set in the first few minutes of the Burnley v Brentford game with Reguilon getting sent off and the double clean sheet getting busted.

What I’m more annoyed about is that I didn’t go with my gut on Muniz and instead reverted to the template somewhat. I’m way off where I want to be now with 9 gameweeks left, but I still have 2 chips still to play. I’ve had the pleasure of being away in the Swiss Alps for a chunk of the international break and it’s cleared my head and given me a bit of fresh perspective; I’ve resolved to have fun through the run-in and what will be will be.
