Here we look at 4 players who have impressed in the Euros that have now been linked with Premier League Clubs from clubs abroad

4 Players From Euro 2020 Linked With Premier League Clubs

Patrik Schick

Patrik Schick is a 1.87metre (6’1″) 25 year old Centre Forward who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen and the Czech Republic National team.

Last season in the Bundesliga he started 20 games plus 9 as sub for 9 goals and 2 assists which is a goal or assist every 169 minutes which for a striker is pretty ordinary. However in previous seasons he has had patches where he has produced some very impressive stats

His Euro 2020 display has been anything but ordinary though with an incredible 5 goals and 5 games. Given that it’s not surprising he’s been linked with Premier League clubs

Spurs and Everton are the reported interested parties. Everton currently have rumours around them about Calvert-Lewin and/or Richarlison joining their former boss Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.

Spurs have a long needed requirement for Harry Kane back up. Whether Schick would want to play that role assuming Kane actually stays at Spurs. Those of us betting for football probably are leaning to him leaving. Whether Spurs think Schick would be good enough to lead the line as the first choice striker is doubtful given the transfer fee that Kane would generate if he were to leave.

Lorenzo Insigne

Lorenzo Insigne is a 1.63metre (5’4″) 30 year old left winger who currently plays for Napoli and the Italian National team.

Last season in Serie A for them he started 33 games plus 2 as sub for an impressive 19 goals and 7 assists although it should be noted that 7 of the 19 goals were penalties. Excluding penalties that’s still a healthy goal or assist every 151 minutes.

He has been incredibly impressive in Euro 2020 cutting inside after Spinazzola created width on the left. He’s scored 2 goals in the 5 games he’s played including a trademark shot from distance v Belgium.

With his contract expiring in June 2022 Napoli really have no choice but to look at offers if they are unable to extend his contract. Ab extension is proving problematic as there is apparently a significant difference in Salary aspirations between him and the Club. It is reported that Liverpool and Spurs are interested. Liverpool have both Mane and Jota for his position and Spurs have Son Heung Min with Steven Bergwijn as cover so how far these progress remains to be seen

Denzel Dumfries

Denzel Dumfries is a 1.88metre (6’2″) 25 year old Right Back who currently plays for PSV Eindhoven and the Netherlands National team.

Dumfries is a Right Back who’s known more for his attacking than his defending and in his 124 appearances for PSV Eindhoven he’s scored 16 goals and 20 assists with a goal or assist every 300 minutes which is pretty top of the range for a defender.

His performances for the Netherlands at Euro 2020 have been impressive in the 3-4-3 formation where he is given the licence to go forward and showcase his attacking skills. He scored 2 goals in 4 games for the Netherlands.

At the moment it seems Everton are the club linked with Dumfries who would be a natural replacement for Seamus Coleman as Everton have little alternative option there with Godfrey and Holgate who are centre backs often playing there last season.

With Everton’s good fixtures to start the season and his attacking ability he would certainly be a consideration in FPL.

Mikkel Damsgaard

Mikkel Damsgaard is a 1.80metre (5’9″) 21 year old Left Winger who currently plays for Sampdoria and the Denmark National team.

In Serie A last season for Sampdoria he started 18 games plus 17 as a sub for 2 goals and 4 assists. This was at a very unimpressive goal or assist every 294 minutes. There’s nothing exciting in his underlying stats to say this was unlucky either

This is in complete contrast to his excellent form in Euro 2020 where he scored 2 goals and an assist in 5 starts. He’s probably best known for scoring the direct free kick in the semi final versus England.

It is reported that Leicester City have opened negotiations for a transfer. Leicester certainly have tried to develop young talent and this transfer would be consistent with that. How he would immediately fit in is difficult although he does have the ability to play anywhere in midfield. However Rodgers 3-5-2 formation would make it difficult for him to play in his normal 3-5-2 formation.
