The schedule

The schedule ranking is now based on 21/22 stats. The sschedule ranks the teams by averaging their Goals against and their expected goals against. It is not adjusted for upcoming fixtures

Player values and stats were as of Wednesday 3rd November

There’s a stat in the schedule focusing on the Defensive performances so far this season. It’s called “xCS” or expected clean sheets. The stat counts the number of clean sheets that should have happened if a team has an xG against of less than 1.0. You can see these each gameweek in my gameweek analysis posts

The key part of the article is the transfer suggestions for this week where I’ve tried to balance a good entry point, defensive strength of the team and upcoming fixture easiness.

Player suggestions for GW11

Here’s some transfer suggestions for GW11 where, as I said above, I’ve tried to balance a good entry point, defensive strength of the team and upcoming fixture easiness. You can see the fixtures on the fixture ease schedule below

Chelsea

If there’s one team defensively you should have representation of this weekend it’s Chelsea. The 2 attacking options are £6.0m Chilwell (10.8 PPM) or £5.8m Reece James (PPM 8.0). History under Tuchel shows Reece James more likely to come on as a sub than Chilwell for those 1 pointers. Both players will be rotated.

The safest gametime option is probably £5.9m Rudiger (PPM 5.7) but he offers little bonus or attacking wise. The cheap option is £5.0m Christensen (PPM 4.9). He is 4th in line for the back 3 but with the schedule of games has still started 7 of the 10 games. He also offers little attacking or bonus wise.

You take your pick and hope for the best

Brentford

The surprise package of the defensive teams and with Norwich next it’s the best possible entry point.

The surprising nature of their defensive performances, the injury to GK Raya and the questionable calibre of the replacement Fernandez plus the surprising walloping by Burnley (2.73 xGA and 15 shots) calls into question the longevity of these defensive performances. However with the price range at £4.5-£4.7m they are FPL team benchable.

I’d probably go with £4.7m Pinnock (PPM 4.2) he has reasonable attacking stats and has some bonus points. £4.5m Rico Henry (PPM 2.8) as the LWB should in theory be an attacking option but hasn’t really produced anything of note and is yet to earn a bonus point or attacking return.

Brighton

I’ve written enough about the Brighton defence so far this season not to rehash it all over again. The 2 safe options appear to be £5.0m Dunk (PPM 3.9) and £5.0m LWB Cucurella (PPM 3.6). Cucurella has by far the better attacking underlying stats although neither have provided an attacking return.

If you want to go cheaper and roll the dice a bit, gametime wise then £4.4m Duffy (PPM 4.4) is the option to go for. He’s started 9 of the 10 games so far and played well but with injuries to others it’s impossible to ascertain if he has “nailed” status.

£4.4m RWB Lamptey has yet to start a game and maybe we’ll see that after the IB in GW12. When he does start he could provide a similar attacking level to Cucurella for a cheaper price although with Veltman there as back up and Lamptey’s injury history he will potentially be more rotatable.

C Palace

The fact that Vieira has improved the attack and the defence in Palace is some feat and now with Wolves and Burnley next and everyone costing around £4.5m they become an option for your FPL team and at the price benchable in your FPL team for tough fixtures.

There’s no attacking option as between the back 4 they have 1 assist in total this season. If you prefer FBs go for Mitchell if you prefer CBs go for Guehi. They’re both £4.5m

The fixture ease schedule

Here’s a schedule where the teams are ranked by the easiness of the attacking teams they face over the upcoming 6 gameweeks
