FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE DEFENDER PLAYER RANKINGS GW11

If the article is a little stats heavy and long winded then there is a suggested players section at the end.

You also might want to see who the top 10 FPL managers I follow are choosing or who are the bandwagons this gameweek.

STAT DEFINITIONS

I’ve firstly ordered the teams by what I think is their defensive strength based on this season’s stats. The stats after that are their:

fixture ease ranking so you can see who has the best fixtures over a 6 gameweek spell. See our fixture ease article
best cheap secure gametime option and an attacking option so you can compare price.
even potentially cheaper player who needs further explanation which is below the schedule
GK price in as a comparison.

Expected goal information is from the excellent site understat.com.   See our underlying stats article for more expected goals and Joseph Crilley’s gameweek review articles part 1 and part 2

The value risk players

Otamendi

We’ll have to wait and see if and when Kompany comes back how that effects the CB partnership of Otamendi and Stones.  In theory Kompany is back for GW12

Spurs

Full back rotation is inevitable and for the moment there doesn’t seem like there will be a UCL and PL split of duties.  The CBs of Alderweireld and Vertonghen are safer gametime wise but they both have pretty ordinary attacking stats for £6.0m

Everton

Needs a new manager in place to establish where there can be value

Wimmer

Started at Watford after being dropped the previous week.  Cameron and Martins Indi were both injured.  Cameron back for GW11 and Martins Indi  no return date.  Playing at the weekend would be a positive step to believing he can hold his place.

The £4.5m ish men

Ideally you’re looking for a £4.5m defender with a team that is good at home and that’s where you plan their fixtures for.

There are 3 candidates which fit that bill albeit on limited data

Liverpool Gomez/Moreno

Leicester Simpson

Burnley  Mee/Ward

Unfortunately none of them as combinations rotate together particularly well.  So if you’re looking for home and away rotation options you may need to accept a less than perfect rotation partner

Player suggestions for GW11

Here we look at finding the some options for GW11 balancing defensive strength, the next fixture and fixtures ahead.

Options are a bit thin on the ground this week so there’s only 1 suggestion:

Spurs:  £6.0m Alderweireld if you want to minimise rotation risk or possibly Trippier depending on selection in the UCL tonight.  If Davies plays tonight then I can easily see Rose starting at the weekend.  Should Aurier start in the UCL then I would back Trippier to start against Palace.  If you’re wanting the value and attacking potential of the Spurs FB’s this is what you’ll need to balance out each week.
