News

Heres the fantasy premier league news of the day including Martin Kelly, Agger, Vidic, Walcott, Silva, John Terry and Bale

Martin Kelly

The Liverpool RB is out for at least 6 months a cruciate ligament injury he suffered against Man U.

Heres his tweet

‘What I can say is its not the worst injury I’ve had, and for sure ill be fighting for my place next year when I’m back fitter and stronger!’

So looks like Enrique or maybe even Downing ?  will be  at LB for Liverpool unless Rodgers dislikes them so much we see Coates in there.  Johnson will go to RB.

Agger

After the bad news for fantasy premier league managers it seems all is not that bad and its just a load of bruising

As reported in the Mail

A club statement read: ‘[Agger] has suffered a significant bone bruise to the left knee.

‘No ligament damage was sustained but further tests will be carried out before it can be established when he will be able to return to training.’

Good news then.  Hopefully no one panic sold yesterday

Vidic

And now for the reverse of the Agger good news from bad.  After quoting SAF being hopeful with Vidic it seems nothing could have been further from the truth.  Heres a club spokesman quoted in the Mail.

‘Sir Alex, as a precautionary measure, rested Vidic at the weekend, after he complained of tightness in his knee, however, further medical investigation revealed the underlying problem.

‘The central defender was operated on this week and will be sidelined for about eight weeks.’

Owners of Evans and Ferdinand will now feel more secure over game time.  Theres nothing to choose at £5.8 and £5.9m respectively.  However theres just the matter of poor Utd underlying defensive stats and Utd having the toughest fixtures of any team over the next game weeks.  Id go for Rafael if you think the Utd defence is going to toughen up but not for me Im staying away.

Walcott

So the contract standoff is nothing to do with cash, its just over Theo wanting to play central striker.  Interesting one.  At the moment Gervinho is the central striker and at £7.3m and classified as a midfielder he’s an absolute bargain as Arsenals fixtures will improve significantly after the weekend.  Worth monitoring but I cant see Arsene folding which is probably going to lead to less game time than more so I wouldnt jump in to buy him yet

 John Terry

I should have mentioned that should JT be found guilty(and the FA have a 98.5% success rate)  then he is likely to get a 4 match ban.  It seems the verdict will come before the weekend but Im not exactly sure when the ban will start but whatever, dont buy him unless theres some miracle verdict.  Even then youve got to put aside terrible fixtures starting at Arsenal on the weekend

Bale

AVB didnt say he wouldn’t play him at LB again but he did say it didnt work.  Surely he cant do it again.  Heres his quotes for the Sun

Villas-Boas told The Sun: ‘We decided to play with Gareth at left-back because we thought he would give us more width.

‘But we were much more steady in the second half when we made changes.’

David Silva

Nasris back next week by all accounts so youve got to think with these comments below that Silva is going to be the man rested for away games.  Stay away at the moment, I would go for one of the forwards rather than a midfielder but if youre that way inclined go for Nasri then YYT.

‘I don’t think he needs a rest. He played in the European Championship and after that he twice went travelling to Puerto Rico and to Spain to play Saudi Arabia.

‘That may be the reason he was so tired – he is not fresh. Spain could help us with this.’

Catch up tomorrow
