Here’s a quick Sun Dream Team tips article where we outline the team that I would play if I could start all over again.  For those who play FPL a wildcard if you like

Sun Dream Team tips – the FFGeek team if I could start again

Here’s the team I would select if I could start my Sun Dream Team all over again.  It’s meant to just give you a feel for a team and structure to help you with your transfers.  Unfortunately unless I buy a new team I can’t put a graphic up of the actual team so its’ just plain words.  The team will be in a 4-3-3 as you can see from the stats that strikers make up 7 of the 8 top points scorers in Sun Dream Team.  You also see from my stats that they are also the best points per game players.  Secondly I generally put my team together in a relatively conservative manner.  I don’t often double or triple up in attack or defence.  Also it’s worth thinking about fixtures but blend in whether teams have much to play for in the league.

Lastly there won’t be any stats for the players in this article.  Here’s the links to the articles you can refer to for any of the players where I give my usual table of stats.  They all will open in another tab so you can continue reading this

Ok so here’s the team and I’ll put some narrative to explain afterwards:

GK:  Mignolet £4.0m

Defs: Blind £3.5m, Bellerin £2.5m, Alderweireld £3.5m, Fuchs £1.5m

Mid:  Payet £2.5m, Ozil £5.5m, Coutinho £5.0m

Fwds:  Aguero £7.0m, Lukaku £4.5m, Kane £5.0m

So talking through the team you can see the prinicples of what I said above coming through.  Every team apart from Everton has something to play for in the league.  Everton though have a decent number of extra fixtures.  There’s also a good spread of teams in there and no doubling or tripling up in attack or defence.

Also you’ll notice the team barely cracks £45m let alone £50m so no need to save money in the GK position or between defenders. Its worth remembering while I’m on the subject that money in the bank will be useful for the emergency transfer and will give you alot of flexibility for that.  So in goal I went for Mignolet.  I just wasn’t sure who if anyone would play every game in the Liverpool defence so have gone for Mignolet as the Liverpool defence representative.  I think the Liverpool defence will put up reasonable clean sheets to the end of the season as they have some fantastic underlying stats which just haven’t come through yet as clean sheets.

In defence I’ve just pretty much picked the best rated defensive players from what I think are the best defensive teams.  Blind and Fuchs just have so much Sun Dream Team love it’s ridiculous and the Man Utd team looks somewhere near full strength.  Walker has far better stats than Alderweireld and if you’re gambling you would say with no other competitions he will play every game but I’m just not sure.  Also Koscielny in some ways has some stats and attacking edge over Bellerin but Koscielny has more injury risk and whether he is worth the extra cash is debatable.

In the midfield Payet is an easy choice given his stats.  The next 2 are more debateable.  I’ve stuck with Ozil despite his wavering recent form for his consistency up to that point in the season and his CAM position which makes him a very involved player which is good for stats.  As for Coutinho I have to say that I’m not really a fan I think he is inconsistent and shoots from range far too much.  If I hear Firmino will be fit he would be my first choice.  Another alternative would be to put in Sturridge who I am a huge fan of for Lukaku and put Barkley in for Coutinho.  However I just don’t trust Sturridges rotation or injury prospects and Barkely has as much risk as Coutinho in some ways.

Up front it’s total no brainer.  Aguero and Kane are absolutely no brainers for me.  Lukaku could be debated for maybe Sanchez if Ozil was swapped out for someone.  Or Sturridge for someone with a real risk taking profile.

You’ll probably notice that there are no Leicester attacking players despite their obvious incentives.  I’m relaxed about no Vardy who’s goal scoring has slowed down recently.  Mahrez is a bit more questionable.  He has fantastic stats.  Liverpools extra games and good fixtures meant that I wanted some coverage of them and I sacrified Mahrez rather than Ozil.  I just think overall that there is some risk about how many goals they will score and the pressure on them.
