Introduction

This article consists of a schedule ranking forwards based on their underlying stats over the first 15 games of the season. xG90 and xA90 are converted to FPL attacking points adjusted by their average minutes played. Stats are from the excellent free site understat

There’s also their FPL points per match as well as their value for money rating. The higher the better. Above 10 is the gold standard

The rankings are purely mathematical and there is no adjustment for fixtures coming up. The attacking players fixture ease schedule is below

Prices are as of 8 December

Please note there is a possibility that Brighton v Spurs could be postponed due to a Covid outbreak. I have kept these players in the schedule pending more information

The ranking schedule

As I said above the rankings are based on their xG90 and xA90 converted to FPL attacking points adjusted by their average minutes played.

There is no adjustment to a players rank for fixtures upcoming

Transfer suggestions for GW16

Ideally I’m looking for players that have a good entry point fixture as well as a good overall fixture ranking in the upcoming 6 gameweeks plus represent overall value for money and consistency of performances. The suggestions are not in any particular order

Form from forwards has been rather thin on the ground and there are only 3 I would suggest as transfers in.

Ronaldo

I’m writing this before the team sheet comes out so hopefully he is rested as United are Group winners so there seems little point in risking him

So far it’s 6 goals and 2 assists in 10 starts plus 2 as sub. He’s returned a goal or assist in 5 of his 10 starts which is ok although you’d hope for more for the price.

While his underlying stats are clearly better than any other forward he still has more to do to justify that lofty price. Seemingly grabbing penalties from Fernandes is a good start.

A great entry point for a transfer in v Norwich and the fixtures going forward are also excellent.

It’s hard to say this early what the effect of the new manager could be. If he has to fall into line with the pressing detail it could mean more rests however United winning the ball higher up the pitch should surely increase his chances to score.

The Palace game was a reasonable start with 5 shots although the xG of 0.30 is disappointing.

Antonio

A player who with just the 1 assist in the last 6 games has understandably with that run seen alot of negativity towards him not to mention transfers out.

And while the 4 games previous to GW15 did see 4 very poor games from him it should be noted that those games were against the 4 of the top 5 defences in the league as I’ve rated them. The game against Chelsea was a return to him providing underlying stats appropriate for his price.

However it can’t be ignored that he has only scored 2 goals and 1 assist in 11 90 minute starts since GW4.

However now he has a good run of fixtures with Burnley as an excellent entry point and it’s whether you think that the Antonio of last season and GW1-3 is still in there or that his consistent underlying stats over the blank period (those 4 games excluded) warrant taking the risk of putting him in the team

Josh King

5 goals and 3 assists in 12 starts plus 1 as a sub is a pretty good rate of return for the Watford striker as is his 4.2 PPM. He hasn’t been that consistent though returning a goal or assist in 5 of those 12 starts ( 42%).

However overall his underlying stats are very good.

He has a reasonable entry point v Brentford and good fixtures thereafter.

Who’s not in the schedule

Toney, Ings, and Jesus aren’t in as injury doubts

Lukaku and Bamford are just coming back from injury. Lukaku has started in the UCL match tonight but there has to be sufficient doubt whether he will start GW16. Bamford was only a sub for Leeds in GW15 and admitted to being rusty.

Lacazette, Werner, Edouard, Armstrong and Broja were all gametime doubts.

Remember Kane and Maupay could be affected if the Brighton v Spurs game is postponed due to a Covid outbreak with Spurs
