FPL team tips GW19 – FFGeek contributors show their GW19 teams part 1

Here’s part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

At the end of each commentary I’ve included a transfer summary.

Joseph Crilley

Joseph finished with an overall rank of 7k last season and 13k in 16/17

GW18 points: 60 -4 (average 55) Total points 1,106, Gameweek rank 2,305k, Overall Rank: 31k, red arrow 1k, Team Value: £104.2m

GW18 review

A very strange weekend for me which was saved by Son from being an awful gameweek, however it could have easily been a very beneficial outing if I hadn’t touched my team late on Friday. My original selection had Aubameyang as captain alongside one Sir Harold of Kane, but the former playing 90 mins in the League cup raised my fears of a benching for him. I therefore made a rather poor late decision to bring in Sterling and hand him the armband as I had high hopes for his home fixture against Palace which meant Kane needed to be sacrificed.

Overall, these moves cost me 28 points, although admittedly I was highly unlikely to captain the Arsenal man as I favoured the secured start of Sané so the actual damage wasn’t as bad. Not the best decision on my part, but at least the large return from Son reduced the red arrow to just 1k, though I do now have fears for the Boxing Day gameweek.

As a Spurs fan, I am delighted to see our form of late and our fixture against Bournemouth looks the best for captaincy this gameweek. Specifically, Kane looks a great option and the armband would certainly been on him if I hadn’t made the aforementioned move, but I will have to look elsewhere now. I have contemplated Son for the same match-up, but I am currently leaning towards Aubameyang who faces a Brighton side missing Dunk due to suspension. Hopefully, Kane doesn’t punish me too much and Sterling returns my faith as City seek to bounce back at Leicester alongside his partner in crime Sané.

For transfers, I am considering Richarlison’s place in my side as the Brazilian has looked fatigued in recent matches and I feel he has been a little lucky with some of his returns. The obvious replacements are Martial and Pogba who look key in a rejuvenated Man U side which has great fixtures over the Christmas period. I have been burnt by the former earlier this year, but investment in the United is difficult to resist as Solskjaer has seemingly taken the handbrake off. I think that I will make this move as I see goals in the next 3 games for the Red Devils and hopefully it will go better than some of my recent transfers!

Best of luck to everyone and hope you all have a great Christmas period!

Transfer summary:  TBC possibly Richarlison out and Martial/Pogba in

Robert Cosgrove

Robert finished with an OR of 20k last season and 23k in 16/17

GW18 points: 57 (average 55) Total points 1,103, Gameweek rank 2,701k, Overall Rank: 34k, no rank movement, Team Value: £103.4m

A pretty disappointing gameweek overall, due to the strange results! Switching my captain from Kane to Sane last minute came back to bite me. I only did so because I heard a lot of talk from people captaining their Man City assets so didn’t want to lose any rank, peer pressure took over!

This week I have taken a 4 point hit to bring in Man Utd cover in the form of Lingard as he was the only one I could afford after Herrera who I like but is not consistent enough. I feel Man Utd will be revitalised under Solksjaer now and have some decent fixtures coming up so wanted some coverage!

To make funds for Lingard I sacrificed Ederson who hasn’t returned a clean sheet in forever. The 2 GK options I felt are the best were Hart and Foster; both have similar fixture difficulty but my gut sided with Hart due to save points.

Captain is (and will stay!) Lingard as a slight differential captain this week

Transfer summary:  Not clear from this who he replaced to get Lingard in but Ederson out, Hart in.

Costas Chari

Costas finished with an OR of 29k last season and 27k in 16/17

GW18 points: 54 -4 (average 55) Total points 1,057, Gameweek rank 3,167k, Overall Rank: 141k, red arrow 24k, Team Value: £101.8m

Merry Christmas Geeks!

A bad week for Real Chariedad! Captain choice failed me once again. Could have been worse if Alli and Kane hadn’t delivered! I’m gutted that my surprise in Alli scored but got injured! I really wanted him as my differential during the festive season.

I wasn’t going to make any transfer but I cant take the risk of having a player of 9.0 injured and on the bench so I moved him out for Pogba.

Captain – no other than Kane this week!

Transfer summary:  Alli out and Pogba in
