Fantasy Premier League – the 90 minute attacking players

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s our fantasy premier league article where we look at the attacking players who’ve averaged 90 minutes in the last 10 gameweeks.  This is to give you an idea of potentially the less rotatable players in the midfield and forward positions.  We also highlight a few other notables who are just short of the 90 minute average

Fantasy Premier League – the 90 minute attacking players

The restart of the remaining 9 Premier League gameweeks of the season will be condensed into 6 weeks after 3 months off .  An imperfect lead up to these games plus the new 5 substitute rule means that finding players who are likely to play the full 90 minutes will be a big plus for our FPL teams.  Here we look at some attacking players who’ve averaged 90 minutes in the games they’ve played over the last 10 gameweeks

Midfielders

Son Heung Min £9.7m

In between a red card suspension and a fractured arm  Son Heung Min started 5 games for Spurs between GW22 and GW26 playing 90 minutes in all 5.  In those 5 games he scored 4 goals.  4 of those games were as a left or right sided forward which suggests that the return of Harry Kane won’t unnecessarily disadvantage him.

He appears to be a Mourinho favourite having only missed 2 minutes of gametime, when available,  since Mourinho was appointed, if you discount the game he was sent off.  Son has returned from Military duty with South Korea and fit and ready to go.

Richarlison £8.3m

Although he missed 2 games of the last 10 gameweeks with a knee injury Richarlison has played 90 minutes in all 8 games he’s been available for.  7 of those 8 games have either been as a centre forward or as a secondary striker.

In those 8 games he’s scored 4 goals and 2 assists returning a goal or assist in 5 of the 8 games.  His points per match over that period is 6 far better than his overall average of 4.9.

Jack Grealish £6.4m

The transformation of Jack Grealish this season has been the move from a central midfielder to a left sided attacking midfielder/winger.  He’s unquestionably Villa’s talisman. The last 10 gameweeks have seen 2 goals and 3 assists from the hometown midfielder.  Unfortunately those 10 gameweeks can be split into 2 with the last 5 games seeing Grealish only return a solitary assist.  The last 2 games against Southampton and Villa saw 2 pretty humiliating defeats 0-2 and 0-4.  Villa only managed a pathetic 8 shots from both those games.  Despite some heroic performances from Grealish, on sites like bettingsite.live that recent form has seen Villa one of the favourites to be relegated

Dwight McNeil £6.1m

Despite all the hype around the player and the supposed interest from big clubs, the fact is that Dwight McNeil has only returned in 1 of the last 17 games and is only ranked 28th in my midfield player rankings.  That was a 14 FPL point haul against the hapless Bournemouth defence.  Even then the return did involve a shot from range which was rated as only an 11% chance of going in.  Those poor returns aren’t bad luck either as he’s only rated 25th in key passes per game this season behind the likes of Ward-Prowse and Shelvey.

Wilfried Zaha £6.7m

The 1 thing you can guarantee with Zaha is that he will play 90 minutes.  Apart from the opening gameweek of the season when he wasn’t fully fit he’s started every game and played 90 minutes in doing so.  However a points per match of 3.3 really tells the story as does no goals and 3 assists only in the last 12 gameweeks.  He’s only returned 8 times for 3 goals and 5 assists in 28 starts.  A consistency return rate of a pretty poor 29%.

Other notables last 10 gameweeks:

Salah – 11 games 89 minutes average

Almiron – 10 games 88 minutes average

Doucoure – 10 games 89 minutes average

Noble – 10 games 89 minutes average

Henderson – 8 games 89 minutes average

Norwood – 9 games 88 minutes average

Forwards

Jordan Ayew £5.2m

After being a continual substitute magnet, Zaha’s team mate has suddenly become an integral part of Palace’s attack having started and played 90 minutes in the last 15 gameweeks.  He’s also seen a bit of form as well with 2 goals and an assist in his last 3 games returning in each.  That’s despite the fact that he’s been moved to a winger position from Centre Forward in the last 7 gameweeks.   For the price a season Points Per Match of 3.9 is not too terrible and for that price he’s the only guaranteed starter in the forward category.

Other notables last 10 gameweeks:

Calvert Lewin – 10 games 87 minutes average

Firmino – 11 games 89 minutes average

Deeney – 10 games 87 minutes average

Benteke – 5 games 87 minutes average

Aubameyang – 7 games 87 minutes average

Pukki – 9 games 88 minutes average
