Introduction

This is part 3 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. In the future it also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

See the part 1 contributors and part 2 contributors article.

Yaniv Salomon

Yaniv finished with an overall rank of 4k last season and 8k in 17/18

GW17 points: 68 (FPL average 56) Total points 1,007 Gameweek rank 1,467k, Overall Rank: 82k, green arrow 18k, Team Value: £105.6m

Hi all , so at the end I stopped my self from pushing the Wildcard button, and I will try to gain more profit from it in GW20, after all the clashes between the top sides. I had 2 ft (0.0itb), and I was thinking about 3 transfers for a hit although finally went for only 2.   Grealish for Pulisic and Baldock for the injured Taylor.   now I have 0.7 itb, and couldn’t find a player that worth the minus 4 for only 1 GWk.   It will be a tough week for me, as I have 2 Leicester defenders (even thinking about Saka that can bring more than Soyuncu this week).

As for now the armband is on De Bruyne who played last week like a supporting striker, so it will be a trade off against the double Leicester defense.
I hope I can get this week through without a big red arrow.

Good luck all!

Yaniv

Transfer summary:  Grealish in for Pulisic out and Baldock in for the injured Taylor out.

I have 2 free transfers:

Transfer summary:  Robertson and Mané out for Doherty and Son in

Planning to WC in GW19 or 20.

Son (C)

Andrew Pratt

Andrew finished with an overall rank of 8k last season and 1k in 17/18

GW17 points: 83 (FPL average 56) Total points 961 Gameweek rank 258k, Overall Rank: 402k, green arrow 308k, Team Value: £103.6m

Thoughts on Gameweek 17

I switched the armband from Salah to Vardy minutes before the deadline! Still, it was a solid gameweek and second successive healthy green arrow. Notable mentions include Sheffield United double defence (thanks Jack Grealish), Salah and de Bruyne (with an immense performance). Liverpool and City rolled on impressively, Chelsea and Man United continue to misfire and Leicester surprisingly didn’t steamroll Norwich. Arsenal defence is at sea.

Thoughts on Gameweek 18 and beyond

An OR of 350k by the end of December suddenly looks more doable.

This week sees Liverpool and West Ham blank. Without any transfers I’d face a non-playing bench of Salah, Mane and Tomori (who may well have lost his place in the team) and have to field Tielemans and Soyuncu who might get scorched by City. The need for my team to be bolstered now when Salah and Mane blank in advance of their tougher fixture run pushed me to use one of my two free transfers early to move out Mane for Son. Spurs has 6 very favourable fixtures in the next 9 and now face an underperforming Chelsea at home. Son could also be a good captain option. Unfortunately this means that the 2 gameweeks I had Mane for he was rested and then had a goal ruled offside by the finest of margins. VAR has not been good for me.

Baldock, Rico, Lundstram and Grealish are now on 4 yellow cards so risk missing a game if they pick up another yellow before gameweek 20.

For the second free transfer, I’m considering:

a. Save it for the ongoing busy period and catering for players potentially collecting their 5th card soon (which means having to field Tielemans this week, which is weak but not a train smash)

b. Move out Tomori for Aurier (an attacking defender with good fixtures) and keep 1.8 in the bank to swap out Tielemans for Richarlison (although he’s trolled me quite severely in the past) or Maddison (seems to be going off the boil if some pundits are to be believed) in gameweek 19

c. Move out Tomori for Kelly (fantastic fixtures but he’s likely to lose his place again at some point) and keep 2.5 in the bank to swap out Tielemans for Richarlison, Maddison or Alli (I probably don’t trust Spurs enough to invest this heavily though) in gameweek 19

d. Move out Tielemans for Richarlison now (this risks being under-gunned in defence in the short term and definitely needing attention before gameweek 21, potentially compounded if one or more of Baldock, Rico and Lundstram get a 5th yellow)

Currently, the first two are preferred.

Captain and vice will be between Son and Jimenez.

On my watchlist are Aurier, Kelly, Rashford and Richarlison. Tielemans and Tomori are in the departures lounge. Mousset is being monitored. If City refind their best form I may be pushed to move in Aguero or Sterling at the expense of Salah.

Transfer summary: Mane to Son. Tomori to Aurier under consideration.

Rob Cosgrove

Rob’s last 3 seasons overall rank were 45k, 40k and 23k

GW17 points: 75 (FPL average 56) Total points 956 Gameweek rank 673k, Overall Rank: 461k, green arrow 200k, Team Value: £103.2m

With Liverpool not playing this week I needed to bench Mane and Alexander Arnold but also have Soyuncu away to City who I need to bench. This meant Greenwood was in my team who does not start so I had to transfer him out. Calvert Lewin I think is worth a punt this week as he is playing 90 mins under Duncan Ferguson, but in the long term he will be on my bench.

I really want Grealish for the next few games so have taken a risky move of taking Maddison out for him. Leicester have City and Liverpool in the next 2 so points could be limited.

I am also worried about yellow card suspensions; I believe Alexander Arnold and Lundstram are both on 4! That would really hurt my team as Grealish is also on 4 yellows.  All of them have to get through GW19 to be reset again.

Recap: 2 free transfers used this week: Maddison out for Grealish (2 week fixture related transfer) and Greenwood out for Calvert-Lewin.

Captain Alli VS an inconsistent Chelsea defence (another risk with potential huge reward!)

Transfer summary:  Maddison out Grealish in and Greenwood out for Calvert-Lewin in.
