Here’s our FPL wildcard tips GW13 article where we pretend we are using our wildcard. It gives player suggestions with more longevity than just for the up coming gameweek

FPL wildcard tips GW13 – our imaginary wildcard

This is a short article where I’m pretending I’m using my wildcard to give you player picks with more longevity than the next game. It’s short as there are no stats. I’ve given links to articles below with all the detailed stats you’ll need if you want to investigate a player in more detail.

In this article there’s some brief narrative on the selection below. There’s stats in the player ranking articles which can be found here using the links below

There’s also our fixture ease article which gives player suggestions with good fixtures. Our underlying stats article focuses on expected goals at a team and player level which may also give you some ideas. IMAGINARY WC TEAM

The team is within my budget of £102.5m

STRUCTURE

I’ve gone back to what is likely to be a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 depending on whether you wanted to play Loftus Cheek or Wilson.  Unfortunately my choice of players has lead to a lightened defence

GKS

It’s hard to resist the save points and bonus of Nick Pope of Burnley at the moment.  No playing GK has a better points per match.  I did want De Gea to get some representation of the Man Utd defence given the uncertainty going forward with everyone except the very expensive Valencia.

Newcastles Elliot is there as a cheap alternative

DEFENCE

In defence my faith in Man City isn’t going to lapse so Otamendi becomes the cornerstone of t

Then it was a case of fitting the remainder in and that needed 4 £4.5m ish defenders.

With Liverpool being so strong at home I’ve gone for Moreno and hoped that his UCL disaster doesn’t allow in Robertson from the cold.

Next was Charlie Daniels of Bournemouth who is an attacking and fixture gamble.  He passed his first test against Huddersfield last week despite doing his best to get sent off.

Then it got tricky.  I went for Dunk mainly due to Brightons defensive attitude even though fixtures aren’t that great.

Lastly I doubled up on Burnley with Mee given the added safety net of being able to bench 1 of them for the trickier fixtures.  However with Burnley home to Arsenal, Brighton away at Manchester United and Liverpool home to Chelsea it would make this week rather difficult.

MIDFIELD

Salah hopefully leads no explanation.

Given the form of Man City I’ve put 2 Man City attackers as one of the key priorities for my team.  I’ve chosen the 2 most explosive in Sane and Sterling.

That made it impossible to have Lukaku so I’ve gone for Pogba due to his form and it gives me Man Utd representation

Loftus Cheek is the 5th mid

FORWARDS

Aguero is the best forward for me but  rotation  has made me rule him out as a viable City option

I’ve stuck with Kane for the moment although he is on a serious watchlist to go out.

Morata or Hazard with Chelsea’s fixtures are desirable.  I’ve gone for Morata due to his consistency this season.

Lastly Callum Wilson was my cheapie of choice due to the fixtures.  Murray was an option but his fixtures are just too tricky
