Rob Reid with his fantasy premier league GW37 player picks
Hi everyone and welcome to Gameweek 37 Player Picks.
You may recall that last season I ran a weekly article where I selected an Ace, Banker and Joker pick each week. This season I’ve slightly changed the format but I’ll be making my picks along similar lines. The Ace will be a form player who I would heavily favour for captain this week. The Banker is a fixture pick and has an eye to the next few gameweeks. The Joker will be a differential pick where the only condition is that they must have less than 10% ownership.
I’ll be keeping an eye on how each player performs each week. After the success of GW1 & 2s Bankers, I’ve decided to go back on my original plan and I’ll now be following the Banker pick for 4 weeks again, like I did last season. I’ll also be running a weekly average on how well the selections perform each week. Finally, there will be Guest Picks again from time to time and I’ll be running some Twitter Polls throughout the season where Fantasy Football Geek readers and Twitter followers will be able to vote on who we’re going to pick in each category – keep an eye out for these as the season goes on and feel free to vote!
Here goes – wish me luck!

Gameweek 37 Picks
Banker
With there being only 2 more GWs left this season and the banker measured over 4 gameweeks, there will be no further Banker picks. I’ll continue to follow the remaining Banker picks however as previous.
Ace – Raheem Sterling (MCI £11.6m) – LEI
Another week, another Citizens win – that’s an incredible 12 in a row. Can they make it a lucky 13 this week? You’ve got to like their chances. Sure there are possibly a couple of other more appealing fixtures this week – United visit Huddersfield but are in poor form. Chelsea and Arsenal both have favourable home matches but come off the back of what will be tough Thursday night Europa League semis. I’ve therefore gone for City’s game on the Monday night for my Ace pick, and with Kun already in the Bankers it had to be Sterling. When he returns, he often goes big and I think he’s due for another good haul before the season’s out. Opponents Leicester won’t be a pushover though. They won the reverse fixture back in GW19 and have been in good form since Brendan Rogers took over with Jamie Vardy the figurehead. Either way I expect some goals in this which would bode well for Sterling.
Joker – Diago Jota (WOL £6.3m) – FUL
Jota is a player who has been transformed over the last few gameweeks since being pushed further forward to effectively act as a second striker with Raul Jimenez. This is certainly echoed in his fantasy returns – the Portuguese star has racked up 4 goals, 3 assists and 5 bonus points across the last 6 gameweeks he’s played in and all at a manager-friendly price and in the midfield bracket as well. Opponents Fulham have improved of late despite already having been relegated to the Championship, with 3 wins and more amazingly 3 clean sheets in the last 3 matches. Perhaps if Scott Parker had been given the reins a bit earlier things might have been a bit closer come the end of the season, who knows? I think they’ll find a visit to the West Midlands a bit too tough this week though, with Jota poised to profit if this proves to be the case.
That’s all from me this week on Player Picks, best of luck for this week everyone!
