Here’s our FPL wildcard tips GW16 article where we pretend we are using our wildcard. It gives player suggestions with more longevity than just for the up coming gameweek
FPL WILDCARD TIPS GW16 – OUR IMAGINARY WILDCARD
This is a short article where I’m pretending I’m using my wildcard to give you player picks with more longevity than the next game. It’s short as there are no stats. I’ve given links to articles below with all the detailed stats you’ll need if you want to investigate a player in more detail.
In this article there’s some brief narrative on the selection below. There’s stats in the player ranking articles which can be found here using the links below
Player rankings defence and GK
Player rankings budget midfielders
There’s also our fixture ease article which gives player suggestions with good fixtures. Our underlying stats article focuses on expected goals at a team and player level which may also give you some ideas. You can also see who the popular transfers are in our bandwagons article and who the top 10 FPL managers I follow have in their team
This week I’m doing an article with 2 teams. 1 with Harry Kane and the other without
IMAGINARY WC TEAM (with Harry Kane)
The team is just outside my budget of £103.4m
STRUCTURE
I’ve gone for a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 depending on whether you played Loftus Cheek or Calvert Lewin. Also with 2 premium defenders in Otamendi and Christensen pretty much playing every game there maybe occasions when it could even be 4-4-2 or 4-3-3
GKS
I’ve gone for cheap rotation and included Adrian as a punt for save points in DGW22. There are unconfirmed reports that he will play this week which would make sense after his perormance against Man City which is in great contrast to Hart’s unfortunate performance against Everton.
Fabianski is aso there for save points
DEFENCE
2 premium defenders from the 2 of the best defences in Chelsea and Man City. Again I’ve gon for value with Christensen although he has competition from Rudiger and David Luiz when fit
Otamendi looks fairly secure over he Christmas period with Stones injury and also Kompany looking a doubt for the weekend.
Burnley with Ward, despite no clean sheets in their last 3, still look like a formidable home defence for the price
I’ve gone for 2 cheapies in Kenny for Everton and Dunk for Brighton. Kenny has some gametime risk attached to him with new Manager Allardyce only 1 game in.
MIDFIELD
Salah and Hazard hopefully need no explanations.
I’ve stuck with Sterling as the best representation of the Man City attack.
Richarlison has form and fixtures on his side after the Burnley away game.
Loftus Cheek is the best of the £4.5m 5th mids and has good enough fixtures and points potential to rotate with the 3rd attacker.
FORWARDS
Morata is my number 1 ranked forward at the moment but is probably due a rest at some stage.
Kane is there for the next 2 fixtures and DGW22
Calvert Lewin is one of the cheapest forwards that’s starting at the moment although he has gametime risk similar to Kenny.
Imaginary WC TEAM 2 (No Harry Kane)
Again the team is just outside my budget of 103.4m
Here’s a team without Harry Kane in it. In simple terms Kane is downgraded to Austin and the money s spent on upgrading Loftus Cheek to Coutinho, Dunk to Kolasinac and Fabianski to De Gea. There was a little bit of extra trimming for that with Ward to Tarkowski and Adrian down to Speroni who could very easily lose his place to Hennessey but was a budget sacrifice.
I suspect Coutinho or Sterling would be the sacrifice to turn Morata into Kane in DGW22. Austin would probably take a few transfers
The team would play 4-5-1- or 3-5-2
