The Key
I’ve converted their xG90 and xA90 in to raw FPL attacking points. No appearance points, Clean sheet points or bonus just raw attacking points. I’ve then ranked them from 1 -114.
I’ve also included their FPL price, Last seasons Points per Match as well as an initial assessment on their starting potential.
The goals and assists are OPTA type goals and assist and not fantasy assists so they may differ to the FPL site. Apps include sub appearances.
All stats are from the fantastic free site understat
I’ve not included last season’s relegated teams, any promoted teams or players who have left the PL otherwise. Also not included new players to the Premier League.
The key to the status is as follows. I will update this during preseason.
LS – likely starter
TBC – to be assessed through pre-season
UL – unlikely starter
UK – unknown
The Schedule
Below is a graphic but you can get the google spreadsheet and filter it anyway you like on the FFGeek Patreon site version
Commentary on Key Players
The expected Top 3 teams are well represented as you’d expect. Chilwell was devastating on low minutes last season. Both Liverpool fullbacks feature strongly. Cancelo is there as well. Interesting both Dias and Laporte rank highly.
Doherty’s is worth mentioning separately. His stats are incredible and Conte improved them defensively. There’s alot of competition at RB but he’ll be hard to resist if he looks first choice.
3 other cheap players worth mentioning are.
£4.5m Jonny of Wolves if he can hold off Ait Nouri has good fixtures and stats.
Leicester’s defence was decimated with injury and a full strength team could be interesting. £4.5m Jonny Evans has good set piece potential. The same price Ricardo, Castagne and Justin also have attacking potential above their ranking here. Unfortunately Leicester’s opening fixtures aren’t great.
Lastly Gabriel of Arsenal at £5.0m has good set piece potential.
Just a note that the player with the best xG90 is Matt Doherty. The Player with the best xA90 is Alexander-Arnold.
I’ll be ranking defensive teams next then moving on to ranking the Mids and the Fwds
