Sterling vs De Bruyne Stats
Gametime
Firstly who knows with Pep so whatever logic you try and put to it you have to accept the lottery risk.
Sterling wasn’t in the squad for the EFL cup game midweek. De Bruyne was on the bench but an unused sub
Before the International break they need to play Atalanta away in the Champions League and then Liverpool.
Midweek is the EFL cup where they are home to Southampton and then repeat that fixture in GW11.
Sterling has played 1169 minutes in all competitions and De Bruyne 930 minutes in all competitions
You take the facts and then roll the dice accordingly.
Stat comparison
relevant stats v non top 6 opposition 19/20
PPM is FPL points per match
xG PG and xA PG is expected goals and assists per game.
SPG and KPPG is shots and key passes per game
full 19/20 stats
Here’s their full stats so far.
Defences
Southampton are:
7th ranked in goals conceded away with 6 in 5 away games
4th ranked in xGA away with 5.86
5th in shots per game away against with 10.4
14th equal in offsides per game away which I guess shows they aren’t a complete buss parker.
10th in possession away from home reinforces the above.
However after the 9-0 disaster they did park the bus v Man City in the EFL cup.
Summary
Gametime wise you would say both should start if there was any logic to Pep’s selections
The bookies have Sterling at 1.60 anytime goal scoring odds. This bookie doesn’t rate De Bruyne as a goal threat and he is £3.00 to score anytime
The Polls for who you are going to captain have Sterling at 57%, De Bruyne at 17% and Aguero at 13%
As I write this 4 contributors have gone for Sterling and 4 have gone for De Bruyne
Stats wise De Bruynes are clearly better in all facets for the 3 home games against non top 6 sides. Overall De Bruyne also has a better points per match. Sterlings underlying stats especially overall goal threat is better though
Given the debacle against Leicester, aided by a sending off, it’s surprising that Southamptons defensive stats away from home are so good. They did lose 3-1 in the EFL cup though parking the bus.
Aguero is the penalty take for Man City
FFGeek view
This week I’ll be going for Sterling and there won’t be any last minute changes.
