Introduction

This is part 2 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  The teams are shown as their “final-ish” teams so they could change.  Where they have twitter accounts I have shown this and they may update them there or on our Slack Channel which is part of our subscription Patreon site but this is not guaranteed

GW33 review

A bit of an odd GW – a low scorer in general with some lower ownership players such as Chris Wood taking centre-stage. But certainly a very satisfying one from a personal point of view – my best Gameweek Rank of the season so far and a very tidy green arrow which has made up all the ground I lost against chip-wielding managers over GW31 and 32.

Bizarrely this GW rank was off the back of only 5 returners, but in a week where a lot of points hits where thrown around and some teams ended up with less than 11 players, having returning players full stop proved key. There were good showings from Shaw and Rudiger – clean sheets and bonus points for both and a bonus defensive attacking return on Monday night after I bought a ticket to the ‘Castagne Carnival’ with my Transfer In on Friday. The only other attacking returns were from Iheanacho on Monday and in the end a slightly underwhelming Salah Captain return – Liverpool were so wasteful!

Onto GW34 then – lots of choice fixtures this week and some tricky selection decisions await…

GW34 Team

1FT and £0.3m in the bank.

We’re all anxiously awaiting news of any fixture changes now as there looks to be a strong possibility that the Premier League will nudge back the GW37 fixtures a couple of days to allow fans into stadiums for this around. This would then impact GW35 & 36, causing a double for the FA Cup finalists and their opponents in GW35 (along with adding the Villa/Everton and Palace/Saints fixtures) and then therefore blanks in GW36 for the FA Cup finalists and their opponents. Geek talks through how it could affect his team in his early FFGeek article

As such, I’m keen to roll my transfer this week to give myself maximum flexibility for these possible eventualities. Looking further forward, I think I will then likely sell Son in GW35, probably for a player from one of the teams who double in 35 and still have a fixture in 36 (ie Villa, Everton, Palace or Saints) and then in GW36 sell 2 of my players who blank to make sure I get 11 out that week. This unfortunately means that Trent Alexander-Arnold will have to wait another week, though there is a small chance I might sacrifice someone like Rudiger or Castagne to bring him in as I suspect these players will only get 1 start out of 2 that week to save them for the FA Cup Final. Especially Rudiger if Chelsea progress to the UCL final.

Looking at team selection this week, there are decisions to be made. Firstly my subs and I’ve decided to bench Jota from my forward 8 along with Veltman and Konsa. Then there’s Captaincy and I’ll be keeping a keen eye on Geek’s poll when it’s up. Kane looks like he should be the favourite but I can see Iheanacho being popular too, so we’ll see what the poll results throw up. At the moment, I’m on Kane.

Another Friday deadline this week I’m afraid folks – again I’ll try and post my team on Twitter sometime on Friday, but I’m working so it is dependent on how busy I am.

Good luck for this week – I hope you enjoy the games!

GW 32 and 33 Review

Since playing my WC in GW32 I have had a couple of decent GWs. I have climbed from 197k to 123K.

In GW32 Sanchez, Rudiger, Trent, Son, Lingard, Nacho and captain Kane returned.

In GW33 Nacho, captain Mo, Dallas and Rudiger all returned.

Current Thoughts

Like everyone else I am waiting to hear what is happening with the rearranged fixtures.

I am expecting there to be 2 sets of teams, who look like having DGW35.

Firstly, there are Villa, Everton, Palace and Southampton who don’t blank in 36.

Then potentially likely Arsenal, Leicester Man United and Chelsea who do blank in 36. Out of the second group I don’t want more than 5 players in GW35 then I can transfer 2 players out and bench the other 3 in GW36.

At present I have Holding, Vardy, Iheanacho, Bruno and Rudiger. The problem is I have Davies who is a cameo player at the moment. Saying that, he did come on and score Villa’s late equaliser so he may get more game time.

For me he is a wait and see player.

The other player I am concerned about is Jota and a supposed injury.

Transfer Thoughts

I am holding my FT this GW.

Captaincy

I don’t own Kane. I do own Son, Vardy and Iheanacho. I am looking at Iheanacho as the captain with Son as vice.

It could be a big swing either way in the ranks. Last time I went without Kane © he punished me by returning 19 points. However, Iheanacho is on fire.

Sergio Torija

Sergio’s last 4 seasons were 2k, 596k, 17k and 21k

GW33 Points:  55 on Free Hit  (FPL average 36) Total points: 2,027, Overall Rank: 258k, green arrow:  32k Team Value: £104.4m

Sergio has used all his Chips

My free hit chip played last gameweek was a bit of a let down, I went with triple United, Liverpool and Leicester, and only got points from Ihenacho, Castagne and Salah as captain. Still the chip helped to a green arrow in a week in which otherwise I would have only gone with 7 players prior to transfers.

Back now to my normal team, it doesn’t look too bad for this week. Many good fixtures, then there is the head to head between Liverpool and United, where I don’t feel too bad about playing my defenders. The main concern is the City pair that might not play and that Raphinha is out. I’m therefore planning on transferring Raphinha out for Zaha

Going with Kane as captain, and Son as vice just in case.

Good luck all
