This is the 2nd article in our player rankings series. See the defender and GK player rankings

Methodology

I’ve generally started with a selection of midfielders who I think will start in GW38.

I’ve then looked at their expected goals and assists data in 18/19 so far as well as how it relates to their historical numbers. After that I’ve then adjusted it for their ability to over/underperform, their bonus potential, their fixtures over the next 6 and any specific 18/19 factors and numbers.

There is no adjustment for upcoming fixture strength with only 1 game left.

Stats definitions

PP90 mins adjusted: I’ve taken their Points per 90 and adjusted them for average minutes played in the last 10 games.

FFG Proj PPG: The PPG going forward using the above methodology adjusted for minutes played

Consistency: the % of starts where the player has scored a goal or assist. Only appearance of 45 mins or more count

Average mins last 10: The average minutes played when starting in the last 10 gameweeks

ATGS odds – 1 bookies anytime goalscoring odds for the player. It assumes they start and doesn’t include assist potential.

Form ranking: See my underlying stats form article. These are their rankings among midfielders for the last 10 and 5 gameweeks. NA means they didn’t play enough minutes to qualify.

Player values are as of 10 May

Players who are injury monitors

Aside from the usual last day rotation risk the following players are injury monitors

Salah

From what I’ve read today it seems likely he will be fit for Sunday.  The Klopp press conference seemed quite positive

Richarlison and Anderson

Both are injury monitors.  There is a West Ham and Everton press conference later today

  1. So Son replacement with 8.9m. Already have Pogba and 3 city players, so:

    a – Sigurdsson
    b – Ali
c – Moura (high rotation risk?)
    d – Fraser
    e – Redmond
    f – other?

    Thanks

    • The form ranking can be quite volatile and just because you are producing recent good stats it’s no guarantee it’s sustainable. He is going through a strong patch now but overall his Southampton stats are terrible. The great FPL debate is do you believe in recent form or a view of what the player has achieved over a longer period

  2. I wouldn’t go for D Silva. B Silva perhaps. Isn’t De Bruyne still out?
Maddison tempts me, Chelsea won’t turn up. I also feel Man U needs some coverage, unpredictable though they are.
