Fantasy Premier League, imaginary wildcard

Here’s our fantasy premier league wildcard tips GW7 article where we pretend we are using our wildcard. It gives player suggestions with more longevity than just for the up coming gameweek.

This article brings together the various earlier articles in the week.

It’s a short article where I’m pretending I’m using my wildcard to give you player picks with more longevity than the next game. It’s short as there are few stats.

I’ve given links to articles below with all the detailed stats you’ll need if you want to investigate a player in more detail.

In this article there’s some brief narrative on the selection below. There’s stats in the player ranking articles which can be found here using the links below

The FFGeek imaginary wildcard team

My value at the moment is a paltry £101.5m and the teams fit within £0.2m of that.  Remember I only wildcarded last week so I’d hope there weren’t major changes

Structure

Quite flexible.  A 4-3-3 or a 3-4-3 but I would expect to use use defenders most weeks

Goalkeepers and defenders

I do think Wolves are the real deal defensively so have gone for the double up.  That’s as much to have the attacking RWB Doherty in the team as it is to have GK Patricio in there facing anyone every week.  Button is the non playing GK back up.

In defence as I write this Mendy is out so I would swerve the Man City defence for Tripper for the next couple of fixtures of Cardiff and Huddersfield.  He offers clean sheet and attacking potential.  The Aurier injury could be helpful but the 2 fixtures are a double edged sword and could see Walker-Peters in a RB to save Trippier for Barca in the UCL.

Alonso has excellent attacking potential although Chelsea’s short term fixtures are tricky.

Lastly the Liverpool defence with City is, in my mind, the best in the league and at the price Alexander Arnold is great value irrespective of fixtures and rotation risk.

Wan Bissaka is great value and has seen 3 bonus points come his way with each clean sheet Palace have got.

Midfield

Salah is still producing fantastic underlying stats and I believe will soon explode tricky fixtures or not.

Fraser has just been in such exceptional form with such great stats that it’s hard to ignore him.

I’ll annoy Ming Lu now (and others I imagine) for picking Richarlison despite my low ranking of him.  The reason for the low ranking was his inability to finish off chances he created last season.  It’s hard to suddenly assess him as being miraculously able to do so after 3 games.  However given the fixtures and his underlying stats he does seem to have decent upside and worth a roll of the dice.  I possibly would have gone Ramsey with no Knockaert but the contract situation coming to a head negatively today spooked me

Knockaert was the filler that was left.  Hojbjerg is the bench warmer.

Salah and Richarlison would play each week.  Fraser against all non top 6 sides.  Knockaert would depend on Doherty’s, Wan Bissaka’s and Knockaerts fixtures.

Forwards

Aguero even with rotation fears is too good to ignore.  Mitrovic is on fire and producing underlying stats to back it up.  Kane is just a roll of the dice for the 2 fixtures of Cardiff and Huddersfield next.
