fantasy premier league tips – potential premier league lineups for GW4

These are my predicted lineups for gameweek 4. These should become more accurate the further into the season we get. There are also a list of injured players for each club and their expected return dates.

Key: Two players separated by a / means I’m unsure which of the two will start. A player in grey means there is a potential chance they may start instead of the player in white.

Arsenal

Ozil returns this week after recovering from the illness that kept him out of the game against West Ham. I’d expect him to come back into the line up for Iwobi but he could potentially take the CAM spot from Ramsey like against Chelsea. Lacazette still hasn’t started a game yet so there is potential for him to start and if that was the case I’d expect Aubameyang to move to the left wing with Lacazette in the striker position. Torreira is still waiting for his first league start and I think it’s only a matter of time until he displaces one of Xhaka or Guendouzi in the double pivot.

Injuries:
– Sead Kolasinac: Knee injury (October return expected)
– Laurent Koscielney: Achilles injury (November return expected)
– Ainsley Maitland-Niles: Leg injury (November return expected)

Bournemouth

Bournemouth haven’t changed their line up yet this season in the league and they made 10 changes for their League Cup game against MK Dons so I would assume they won’t make any changes once again. There is some danger for Daniels now Rico is back from his ban but after Rico playing midweek I’d be surprised to see him start again this weekend.

Injuries:
– Junior Stanislas: Knee injury (unknown return)
– Lys Mousset: Ankle injury (25%)
– Marc Pugh: Hamstring injury (25%)

Brighton

Pascal Groß lost his place to Bissouma last week but this was a tactical decision therefore I’d expect Hughton to revert back to playing Groß in the number 10 role this week. Dunk still seems to be out, therefore Balogun should once again take his place next to Duffy.

Injuries:
– Florine Andone: Knock (17th September return expected)
– Lewis Dunk: Ankle injury (25%)
– Jose Izquierdo: Knock (17th September return expected)
– Bruno: Hamstring injury (50%)

Burnley

Burnley have played the same team for the first 3 games of the season but an injury to Gudmundsson will now put that to an end, subsequently opening the door for Charlie Taylor to get his first start of the season. Heaton once again played Burnley’s Europa League game and Hart conceding 4 against Fulham can’t be doing Heaton’s prospects of starting any harm. I don’t expect Heaton to start this week but it would not shock me to see him take over Hart’s starting role in the coming weeks.

Injuries:
– Robbie Brady: Lack of match fitness (16th September return expected)
– Steven Defour: Calf injury (unknown return)
– Nick Pope: Shoulder dislocation (unknown return)
– Gudmundsson: Hamstring injury (16th September return expected)

Cardiff

After a promising start to the season Mendez-Laing has picked up a nasty knee injury ruling him out for around 3 months. There is also concern over Hoilett’s fitness, if he isn’t fit I’d expect one of Bobby Reid or Danny Ward to take his place. However, if he is fit then I’d expect him to join Zohore and Murphy to make up Cardiff’s front 3.

Injuries:
– Aron Gunnarsson: Knee injury (15th September return expected)
– David Hoilett: Knock (75% chance)
– Nathaniel Mendez-Laing: Knee injury (November return expected)

Chelsea

Sarri gave both Hazard and Kovacic their first starts of the season last week so I’d expect them both to start again this week. He picked Pedro over Willian to join Morata and Hazard and so I’d expect the same decision again this week but there is an outside chance he decides to play Willian instead.

Injuries:
– Cesc Fabregas: Knee injury (15th September return expected)

Crystal Palace

Wan-Bissaka returns from his 1 match suspension and so I’d expect him to take his place back at RB over Joel Ward. There is concern over James Tomkins fitness, if he is injured then the natural replacement for him would be Martin Kelly. I expect Meyer to eventually take over Schlupp’s position in the team with a change in formation likely but with Meyer playing midweek in the League Cup I’d expect Schlupp to keep his place again this week.

Injuries:
– Scott Dann: Knee injury (unknown return)
– James Tomkins: Calf injury (75%)
– Papa Souare: Muscle injury (75%)

Everton

There are 9 players injured or suspended for Everton this weekend which doesn’t make for great reading. Bernard would have been the natural replacement for Richarlison at LW but he’s picked up a muscle injury and so I’d therefore assume Calvert-Lewin will be the one to take Richarlison’s place. Keane, Jagielka and Mina are all out therefore Zouma and Holgate will be the CB’s starting against Huddersfield. Idrissa Gueye also seems to be out injured so I’d expect it to be a straight swap for the returning Schneiderlin.

Injuries:
– Bernard: Muscle injury (16th September return expected)
– Idrissa Gueye: Knee injury (25%)
– Ademola Lookman: Groin injury (75%)
– Phil Jagielka: Knee injury (23rd September return expected)
– Richarlison: 2 match ban (23rd September return)
– James McCarthy: Leg injury (Unknown return)
– Michael Keane: Head injury (23rd September return expected)
– Yerry Mina: Foot injury (15th September return expected)
– Andre Gomes: Thigh injury (22nd September return expected)

Fulham

After a couple of very poor performances Fabri was dropped for Bettinelli. I still feel Rico is their most talented goalkeeper so I would expect him to get a shot at some point soon but I see no reason to assume Bettinelli won’t start again this week. Chambers was dropped for Odoi last week and again I’d expect that to be the case this week but there is a chance Chambers could take back over one of the CB spots. Mawson played 75 minutes in the League Cup this week and long term I’d expect him to be Fulham’s first choice CB but after already playing once this week I can’t see him starting again this weekend. Cairney is out injured therefore the natural replacement is Johansen but the more defensive minded Anguissa is another option. Sessegnon played midweek in the League Cup so I’d expect Vietto to start again this weekend alongside Schurrle and the in form Mitrovic.

Injuries:
– Floyd Ayite: Lack of match fitness (15th September return expected)
– Neeskens Kebano: Ankle injury (29th September return expected)
– Tim Ream: Knock (15th September return expected)
– Tom Cairney: Ankle injury (15th September return expected)

Huddersfield

With Hamer picking up a knee injury Lossl should start against Everton this weekend. I’d expect the back 4 to be the same as last week with Mooy dropping into the double pivot for the suspended Hogg and Pitchard taking his place back in the CAM position. La Parra didn’t have the greatest of games against Cardiff so I do think there is an outside chance Sabiri could come in for him at LW.

Injuries:
– Ben Hamer: Knee injury (15th September expected return)
– Ramadan Sobhi: Knee injury (15th September expected return)
– Johnathan Hogg: 2 match ban (22nd September return)

Leicester

With Jamie Vardy still suspended Iheanacho should start as striker with Maddison in the 10 position behind him. The two positions I’m unsure for with Leicester are RB and RM. I expect it to be the same as last week but there is a chance it could be Albrighton at RM and Pereira back at RB.

Injuries:
– Caglar Soyuncu: Lack of match fitness (25%)
– Jamie Vardy: 1 match ban (15th September return)

Liverpool

Klopp hinted at changes last week in his press conference and proceeded to make no changes. Klopp again has hinted at changes in his press conference this week so you can take from that what you like. Personally I can’t see him changing the defence or the front 3 but it wouldn’t surprise me to see one of the midfield 3 to drop out for Henderson this week.

Injuries:
– Dejan Lovren: Pelvic injury (15th September return expected)
– Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: Knee injury (unknown return)

Manchester City

Aguero has scored 11 goals in his last 3 home games against Newcastle so I can’t see him not starting. The question for me is whether Pep sticks with his normal 4-1-4-1 or goes back to 3-5-2 which was so successful against Huddersfield. I’ve put above what I’d expect his 4-1-4-1 line up to look like but if he went 3-5-2 then I’d expect Kompany to come in between Laporte and Stones with Jesus joining Aguero up top and Sterling and Mahrez or Bernardo Silva dropped. But as with every Pep line up, it’s anyones guess what he does.

Injuries:
– Claudio Bravo: Achilles injury (unknown return)
– Danilo: Ankle sprain (unknown return)
– Kevin De Bruyne: Knee injury (November return expected)

Manchester United

After a shocking result against Spurs I’d expect Mourinho to return to his typical 4-3-3, playing his best team, making sure he picks up all 3 points this week against Burnley. I’d expect Shaw to retain his place just like last weekend. With Jones out injured I’d expect Lindelof to take his place next to Smalling with Bailly missing out.

Injuries:
– Diogo Dalot: Knee injury (15th September return expected)
– Marcos Rojo: Knock (15th September return expected)
– Sergio Romero: Knee injury (15th September return expected)
– Phil Jones: Hamstring injury (15th September return expected)

Newcastle United

I’d expect Rafa Benitez to stick with the 5-4-1 formation he deployed against Chelsea last weekend that very nearly got him a point. With Lascelles returning I’d expect him to take his place back in the defence but I’m unsure who it’ll be for. With Ritchie out injured I’d expect to see Murphy move from LM last game to RM this game with Kenedy taking his spot back at RM after being ineligible last week against his parent club.

Injuries:
– Isaac Hayden: 1 match ban (15th September return)
– Florian Lejeune: Knee injury (unknown return)
– Javier Manquillo: Leg injury (15th September return expected)
– Matt Ritchie: Knee injury (15th September return expected)
– Jonjo Shelvey: Thigh injury (15th September return expected)

Southampton

The only question for the Southampton line up for me was which two strikers will start this week. I think if Ings is fully fit it’ll be him and Long but if not then it’ll be Austin and Long.

Injuries:
– Danny Ings: Foot injury (75%)

Tottenham

After such an impressive victory against United I can’t see the Tottenham line up changing much at all this week. Lloris is out injured so Vorm will take his place in goal. I’d expect Davies to come back in at LB for Rose and if Trippier isn’t 100% then Aurier to take his place at RB, otherwise I’d expect no other changes.

Injuries:
– Hugo Lloris: Thigh injury (15th September return expected)
– Vincent Janssen: Foot injury (unknown return)
– Moussa Sissoko: Hamstring injury (15th September return expected)
– Son Heung-min: Asian games (15th September return)
– Victor Wanyama: Knee injury (75%)
– Erik Lamela: Hamstring injury (75%)
– Danny Rose: Knock (75%)
– Kieran Trippier: Knock (75%)

Watford

3 games, 3 wins, 3 identical starting line ups, and I see no reason for that to change this week neither.

Injuries:
– Miguel Britos: Knock (75%)
– Tom Cleverley: Achilles injury (unknown return)
– Gerard Deulofeu: Knock (50%)

West Ham

Ogbonna dropped out last week for Diop so it seems like it’s a battle between those two for who partners up with Balbuena at the back. With Noble out I’d expect Sanchez to take his place next to Wilshire in a double pivot. There are a lot of options for West Ham going forward and I do think Pellegrini is still trying to work out his best team but I’d expect Snodgrass, Anderson and Arnautovic to start with one of Antonio or Yarmolenko joining them.

Injuries:
– Andy Carroll: Ankle injury (unknown return)
– Manuel Lanzini: Knee injury (unknown return)
– Mark Noble: Back injury (75%)
– Winston Reid: Knee injury (unknown return)

Wolves

No new injuries and so I’d expect no changes to the squad. Costa is the only questionable position for me with Wolves’ transfer record signing Traore always looking dangerous when he comes on, but I think Nuno prefers Costa due to his far superior defensive work rate.

Injuries:
– Ivan Cavaleiro: Back injury (unknown return)
