Here’s my fantasy premier league team selection GW29 article. As is normal, I review GW28, share my transfer thoughts, captain choice and the lineup dilemmas.
fantasy premier league team selection GW29 – the FFGeek team
Introduction
Firstly if you’re new to the site my last 3 seasons overall ranks are 36k, 17k and 21k.
GW28 review
GW28 points: 27 (FPL average 26) Total points 1,611 Gameweek rank 3,258k, Overall Rank: 69k, red arrow 13k, Team Value: £103.5m
Here’s the points:
I went into quite alot of detail about the gameweek in my early thoughts article. I also talk about my team structure and the blanks and doubles.
This was my lowest point score of the season but not my lowest gameweek rank. The overall rank drop was fairly low though with a worsening of rank from 56k to 69k. Only 1 returning player if you can and that was Calvert Lewin who was lucky to score courtesy of De Gea. The real winners this week were the Doherty owners.
The transfer in of Barnes for Grealish bought did not return
Transfer thoughts
1 free transfer and £0.8m in the bank
The double gameweek for Man City and Arsenal was the change since my early article. There’s also the blank GW31 on the horizon. Unfortunately for that week I have 3 Liverpool players and Boly plus Rico who appears to have lost his place. That gives me a likely 4 players plus 3 transfers to make 7. That for me is why I’m probably going to free hit GW31.
Given that I can make a transfer for the benefit of GW29.
So given that Pep wasn’t too negative about De Bruyne he was going to stay in my team.
So my choice this week has been whether I go Vardy and Martial out for Aubameyang and someone around £6.0m for a 4 point deduction or whether I just ignore Aubameyang and do another transfer. That other transfer was looking like Martial out and Mahrez in. More by process of elimination and the wish to avoid a hit. Who knows whether he will play. He didn’t play at all in the EFL Cup final, played 90 minutes in the FA Cup. It’s impossible to predict especially with Foden now part of the equation but he is my price range and I just don’t think the 2 Silvas are worth it as an alternative. I also can’t afford Pepe.
The problem with the first transfer of Aubameyang for a hit is that Vardy plays Villa who are the worst defensive team in the league. It’s hard to trust Rodgers after the silence of GW28 but he has twice said he thinks Vardy will be ok this week. If he was still injured that would make him incredibly duplicitous. So I’m going to assume he does play.
Given that and the fact that Aubameyang plays City second, plus his stats in my captain article weren’t that special and the fact that Arsenal even post Arteta are 12th in xG behind Brighton and Watford makes me think that the -4 is something I can brave out. Now normally I would ignore all stats and just take the -4 to be safe for such a captain favourite especially in a double gameweek but for whatever reason I’m going to take the risk .
This maybe a 50/50 I regret
So the transfer is Martial out Mahrez in
Lineup
The bench couldn’t be easier. Cantwell, Holgate and Rico
Captain
You may have seen my Captain analysis article. I’ve decided to stick with Salah
