Fantasy premier league team tips GW13 – FFGeek contributor’s teams part 2

This is part 2 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. In the future it also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

Joseph Crilley

Joseph’s last 3 seasons OR were 28k, 7k and 13k

GW12 points: 81 (FPL average 48) Total points 703 Gameweek rank 70k, Overall Rank: 89k, Green arrow 133k, Team Value: £103.9m

A very pleasing gameweek last time out as my first sub-100k gameweek rank of 19/20 resulted in a soar up the rankings to see the team placed in the top 100k for the first time this season. I have felt that a strong week performance like this has been coming for my team with only bench points (e.g. Jimenez in GW11) and freak one-off results (Leicester 9-0) denying significant rank gains. That all came together in GW12 as my transfers of Tielemans and Vardy paid immediate dividends with the latter also taking the armband for only my third double figure captain haul. I still managed to leave some points on the bench in the shape of Robertson, but I was grateful that Lord Lundstram didn’t punish me from the splinters! Nonetheless, 81 points saw a rise up to 89k and leave me in good shape ahead of the international break.

The key dilemma over the next few weeks seems to be how we handle Liverpool for the promising fixtures followed by the blank in GW18 and I’m pretty certain that I would like Mane/Salah as a captain option for this run. Looking at my team, the obvious route is to remove Sterling which is a transfer that I am not opposed to due to my preference to not hold the 12mil+ assets without a view to captaining them. I would prefer to captain a Liverpool player from GW14-17 due to the fixtures so the Sterling to Mane is certainly an option that I am considering. However, it is not a swap that I am looking to make this week as I think Chelsea at home is a decent fixture from an attacking perspective for City and I expect a reaction following the loss to Liverpool.

Therefore, provided there are no injury surprises, I am looking to hold the transfer this week and give myself plenty of options for GW14. My benching decision also comes from that game as I would like to bring Lundstram into the starting XI which means benching at least one of my Chelsea assets. Tomori is an obvious choice to slot alongside Cantwell, but I currently have positioned Mount as the first sub which I am not overly happy with given the somewhat shaky nature of the City defence. However, it seems the obvious option to go with and there’s a chance that is needed off the bench anyway!

Such is my faith in Sterling, I consider him to be a strong candidate for the captain armband this week, though the performance of Reece James against Zaha in the last gameweek does give me some doubt. Captaining Alexander-Arnold has also crossed my mind with Palace’s poor goalscoring record at home, but I think that I’m going to stick with Vardy. I always like him in away games and Brighton seem like the type of defence who may provide the space in behind that he loves to operate in so hopefully he shines again!

All the best to everyone this weekend and may your arrows be green!

Costas Chari

Costas’s last 3 seasons overall ranks were 84k, 29k and 27k

GW12 points: 56 -4 (FPL average 48) Total points 718 Gameweek rank 2,104k, Overall Rank: 40k, red arrow 24k, Team Value: £102.0m

The international break is finally over and now our weekend can finally have a meaning. Especially coming from Cyprus where we don’t have any national team aspirations the international break is always something that makes everyone really irritated.

I am hoping this week I bounce back. I have had 2 consecutive red arrows that saw my OR drop from 4k to 40k and I have also lost the contributors league lead by a point, kudos to Kris though!!

One transfer this week. Its Mount out to McGinn. Its like I mentioned in the imaginary wildcard article in that I have to start planning ahead for the blank Liverpool and West Ham fixture in GW18. Aston villa has a brilliant GW13 fixture as well and McGinn has been superb during the international break. The main reason however for this change is to save money so I can upgrade De Bruyne to Mane or Salah next week. I did not want to lose Sterling, Auba or Martial to facilitate the move so had no choice than to offload Mount after what has been frustrating the last few weeks.

Lineup issues.

GK- was going for Gazzaniga and Mourinho’s appointment cemented that decision.

In defense I have Maguire that plays against Lundstram and Rico that plays against Saiss (Lascelles injured). And I also have Jimenez and Martial to make things worse so if my attacking players score I lose a clean sheet if I get a clean sheet I lose attacking returns elsewhere. I am going with Maguire and Lundstram and between Rico and Saiss I am currently on Rico starting as he has the home fixture and an attacking threat.

Dendoncker fills the bench with the injured Lascelles.

Captain- although I feel its going to be a good week for sterling I can’t see past Aubameyang at home to Southampton. I kept him this far and for the price tag you can also say he is a differential. So a good week for Aubameyang Captain could see me getting a green arrow.

Good luck peeps

GW12 review

Another solid week. 66 points was a healthy 18 points above the gameweek average and although not as explosive as some others this week, it was good enough for another green arrow – the 3rd in the 4 gameweeks since I played my Wildcard in GW9.

Stars of the show were the 3 Leicester boys who contributed over half my GW score between them. Bringing in Tielemans for Silva paid off straight away and Vardy and Soyuncu continued their good run of points. Returns were somewhat sparser otherwise with only Mane and Abraham chipping in, but a green arrow was secured thanks to having the captain’s armband on Jamie Vardy. My first large captain return in a while – my dogs Finlay and Ivy earned an extra long walk for that one!

It’s been a good few weeks for Chaos Theory but now the hard work really starts. Staying inside the top 100k has become progressively more difficult in recent seasons and I know need to start looking for the differentials that will take me even higher. I always reckon that 4-6 weeks post-Wildcard is a difficult time as the advantages you’ve had over the past few weeks with a fresh squad start to wear off. With that in mind, here’s what I’m thinking for GW13….

GW13 Team

I’ve one free transfer and a handy 1.2m in the bank coming off the international break and (fingers crossed) no major injuries. I’ve got a couple of problems form-wise. My 2 Arsenal players are a worry as The Gunners were comprehensively outplayed in GW12. Chambers can sit on the bench at his price, but premium striker Aubameyang is now a strong candidate to be sold. He only has 1 return in 4 since joining my squad and I was concerned by Emery’s very bizarre tactics at the King Power where him and Lacazette looked more like wingers than strikers.. The trade-off with this is the next 4 fixtures (SOU, nor, BHA, whu) so it’s a stay of execution for at least one more week for the Gabon striker.

Another worry is Mason Mount. The young England star has only one assist in his last 5 Premier League games – there’s players in much better form at this price point, notably teammate Pulisic. With City away, I’m not sure this is the week to be juggling Chelsea assets however and with enough defensive options this week he could be benched. The other worry is Gazzaniga. Spurs have decent fixtures, but how will the controversial and rather sudden managerial change affect things? You’d expect some new manager bounce and Mourinho should tighten up the defence so I’m going to leave him in for the moment, but I am thinking that Dean Henderson and a Sheffield United double-up could be a nice option from GW15 onwards.

On the subject of looking at assets going forward, there does come this nice run of fixtures for Liverpool until their GW18 blank. A double up in defence is an option, though 2 clean sheets only so far is a worry with this as is a niggly injury to prime target Robertson. An attacking double could also work. I’d have to sell Aubameyang and Salah would be the preferred option with Firmino having not registered a return since GW6, though the Egyptian does also come with an injury risk. I’m also eyeing up City’s GW14 & 15 fixtures; they’re both away but they’ve always done well against Newcastle and Burnley – they could be where Aguero, Sterling and co. start to fire again.

But for this week, I’ve decided to bank my transfer. I think it could be a tough week scoring-wise and I’ll be happy to stay in top 100k to be honest. For my team, I’ve decided to bench Mount so Chambers gets a rare start for Chaos Theory, even though Danny Ings will probably find a way to kill an Arsenal clean sheet! I’m a bit torn on captain this week – I’m on Aubameyang at the moment, but I think Vardy could be a good option as could Mane. I’ll consult with my dogs again and see what the polls say before I make a final call!

Best of luck this week folks – enjoy the games.

GW12 review and transfer thoughts

A fourth green arrow in a row since my WC in GW9 – I’m certainly enjoying my post WC team more than my pre WC one!

7 returning players (with another returning player on the bench – frustrating but good strength in depth in case of injuries, rotation and the Christmas period) and the correct captain choice in Vardy.

I don’t think any changes to my team are strictly necessary as I have players in form and decent fixtures. So I’m able to decide whether I’d like to make changes rather than need to. I’m slightly concerned about Mount’s form albeit he has returned in 3 of the last 6 and seems pretty nailed, playing 90 minutes in 9 of the 12 weeks so far although the 3 he’s been subbed have all been in the last 5. Really, he doesn’t need taking out I don’t think. However, I like Jimenez’s form and his fixtures (after Mount’s trip to City this week) are pretty similar to Mount’s. I also like the fact he’s lesser owned than Mount as at the moment I have 7 of the top 10 most owned players – a little too many for my liking. The downside is the number of games he’s played so far with the Europa League and internationals – that said, I think he’s as likely/unlikely to be rotated as Mount. My gut also says it’s a good move – a good test! Connolly would become Douglas Luiz to facilitate the move.

The other option is McGinn and Ings – this would be better for GW18 planning. However, I already have another injury prone player in my team – Martial. So adding Ings is tempting fate too much for me. Plus McGinn seems to have dropped deeper since Grealish has pushed forward in recent weeks.

So my transfers are likely to be Mount and Connolly to Douglas Luiz and Jimenez. I’ll wait for the pressers/injury news before doing them though.

GW18 planning

In terms of my GW18 planning (Liverpool blank), I don’t think I’m going to do too much about it. I have 3 Liverpool players and have value tied up in all of them apart from Alexander Arnold. So I may sell him for, say, Digne (home to Arsenal in GW18) and buy him back in GW20. Apart from that move, I think I’ll just bench Robertson and Mane plus one other – I’ll see if Douglas Luiz is getting more pitch time, if not, he will be the third player benched. I have too much value in Maddison, Vardy, De Bruyne and Tammy Abraham to sell them despite their difficult fixtures in GW18 so they’ll play – they can all return against anyone on current form so I’m fine with them playing. Plus their fixtures from GW20 are good. Soyuncu could be sold to give me another option but again, I’ve got value tied up in him and I’m not convinced selling him for one week is worth it especially as the likely replacement would be a Newcastle or Crystal Palace player (seems the most likely CS fixture) which doesn’t really do anything for me!

GW13 lineup

In terms of my team for GW13, Mount is likely to be Jimenez as per my transfers. Luiz will be on the bench as third sub. The decision is then which of Sir L, Rico or Soyuncu to play. At the moment it’s Sir L playing, he’s the form player (returning in 4 of the last 7 with two of those returns being double digits – just about better than Soyuncu), has by far the higher ownership and can provide attacking and defensive returns playing OOP. However, Soyuncu probably has the better fixture. It’s a 50/50!

Captain will be Vardy – the form player in FPL at the moment.

Enjoy the return of FPL after the IB!
