FPL team tips GW32 – FFGeek contributors show their GW32 teams part 1

Here’s part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

At the end of each commentary I’ve included a transfer summary.

Jordan Sadler

Jordan finished with an overall rank of 76k last season

GW31 points: 43 on Free Hit (average 26) Total points 1,911 Gameweek rank 775k, Overall Rank: 3k, green arrow 1k, Team Value: £104.9m

Jordan has used his 2nd wildcard and used his free hit chip last week in the blank GW31.

Gameweek 31 review

A green arrow wooo! Honestly, I thought my free hit went terribly as only my captain Mane returned but I went up 1000 places so I can’t complain too much. Blanks for Fabianski, Van Dijk, Rice, Luiz, Fraser, Salah, Hazard, Vardy, Wilson and Barnes somehow. The only questions I had really last week were Fraser or Anderson and Barnes or Rondon. In the end I picked wrong in both instances but I’m not annoyed as from a statistical point of view I picked the correct players and I was just unlucky. Gameweek 31

Transfers

Gone for a big -8 this week. Aguero, Hazard and Jorginho in, Salah, Son and Rondon out. Think Sterling, Hazard and Aguero are must haves in this week with their ridiculous double gameweeks. Went with Jorginho as he’s only 4.6 and will also be playing in gameweek 33. I went with the -8 because I just think these players will comfortably make up for it and more, especially with Hazard having a gameweek 33 fixture. Then in gameweek 33 I’ll be definitely doing Sterling to Mane and I may even do a -4 to bring in a 10th gameweek 33 player but we shall see.

Bench

Speroni is my bench goalkeeper as always. Robertson is my first sub vs Tottenham at home, Pereira is my second sub vs Bournemouth at home and McNeil is my third and final sub vs Wolves at home. I decided to go Jorginho over Robertson as I think double Liverpool defence against Spurs is overkill especially when it’s highly likely Jorginho will get at least 4 points this week.

Triple captain

Now this is the toughest decision of the week. Sterling or Aguero for my triple captain, that is the question. I think Sterling is in better form right now but my gut and the polls are telling me to go the safe route of Aguero so that is what I think I’ll be doing. I’ll update on my twitter if I end up changing my mind.

Good luck for gameweek 32.

Joseph Crilley

Joseph finished with an overall rank of 7k last season and 13k in 16/17

GW31 points: 47 -8 (average 26) Total points 1,816 Gameweek rank 571k, Overall Rank: 60k, green arrow 4k, Team Value: £103.0m

Joe has all his chips available and is using his free hit chip this week

GW31 review

When looking back at the blank gameweek, which feels a long time ago now, I am reasonably satisfied with the results as I picked up a small green arrow without using a chip. The main reason for this is that I brought in Mané as one of my three transfers for week, although I did feel a little miffed that I still kept the armband on the out-of-form Salah. My other transfers of Vardy and Fraser blanked, but Rondon and Felipe Anderson picked up the slack somewhat while I also benefited from the only clean sheet of the gameweek thanks to Digne. Now sitting at 60k with a wildcard still available and a decent set-up for the next blank in GW33, I can look forward to attacking this week’s double with the free hit!

GW32 Team

I spoke about my initial ideas for the free hit as part of a contributor’s article last week so I will try to avoid repeating what I wrote there. My team hasn’t changed too much since then and I have 100% defined the following 10 positions in my team:

GK/Def – 2x Chelsea (incl. David Luiz), 1x Man U, Schlupp
Mid – Sterling, Hazard, Pogba
Fwd – Aguero, Rashford, Jiminez

This leaves just one position to fill in my starting XI which comes down to who I would like as my third Man City player – another attacker or defensive coverage. I have narrowed it down to Laporte and David Silva with Ederson and Bernardo Silva being ruled out due to their lack of save points and attacking returns respectively. Given the price difference between the two chosen players, there is an impact on the rest of my team and specifically in the defence with the coverage of United and Chelsea. Put simply it is a choice between the following two options:

1) David Silva, Kepa, Lindelof
2) Laporte, Azpilicueta, De Gea

If I could guarantee starts in both games for Silva, then I would go for that option but the return of De Bruyne from injury gives major doubt to this hope. Regardless, Silva certainly has the higher ceiling given the fixtures and it would be surprising to see Laporte bring back more than 2 clean sheets for a 12-point return. Right now, I am on the Silva option as he was fully rested over the international break and it’s not inconceivable that City will score 4+ goals in both fixtures so maximum attacking coverage looks good.

As for the majority of people, my captaincy decision is a coin toss between Sterling and Aguero – I have currently gone for the striker as he appears more likely to start both games. Also, I have a gut feeling that Sterling has had his moment in the sunshine with his recent goalscoring exploits and it is now time for Aguero to step up.

Best of luck to everyone this weekend and may your arrows be green!

Alex Ball

Alex finished in 17k last season 10k in 16/17 28k in 15/16 and 3k in 14/15

GW31 points: 52 -4 (average 26) Total points 1,682 Gameweek rank 313k, Overall Rank: 643k, green arrow 143k, Team Value: £103.9m

Alex has used his triple captain chip and is using his Free Hit chip this week

Above all on a FH team in a DGW, I want as many players playing twice as I can! And so I go in with 11 players with the chance at double points. And the worst bench ever!

Musts for me were 3 x City attack, 3 x Chelsea and 2 or 3 Man Utd. Oh and Mr Schlupp.

I’ve tried to balance my team with some risky punts that I really fancy and players that are likely to start both and provide security.

Couple of final caveats; Sane or Higuain could still make my team oh and I accidentally sold Pogba (losing a lot of value for this week) but have decided to risk not getting him back.

Kun Capo. Good luck all!

Geek update:  updated team and likely final from Alex

Stephen Troop

Stephen finished with an OR of 52k last season

GW31 points: 37 -4 (average 26) Total points 1,780 Gameweek rank 1,389k, Overall Rank: 130k, red arrow 8k, Team Value: £101.8m

Stephen has all his chips intact and is using the free hit chip this week.

I’ve been switching between Kane and Hazard all week in my FH team, but the fixtures for Hazard are just so much better. With Milivojevic it also seemed more a punt than anything where I’m hoping for a penalty+BPS across the 2 fixtures. With Lukaku injured then Rashford becomes a good alternative to Kane and Rashford+Hazard I feel is better than Kane+Mili. The final decision however will depend on the press conferences and whether Rashford is fit.

Aguero captain after his rest during the international break and I feel is less rotation proof than Sterling. Both are strong options though
