Firstly here’s the FPL preseason watchlist article link. Also our article on which players could be late back due to International tournaments is relevant

Here’s the link to the Part 1 article Arsenal to Leicester

I’m looking at specific players and issues within a team so my FPL preseason work is focused rather than giving you a mass of information on players who have no FPL relevance.

I won’t repeat the watchlist article here but from the commentary you will understand what I’m looking for.

Sofascore is a great resource for giving you lineups although not in every game.

Liverpool

2 mini games against German teams with nothing worth mentioning apart from who was there and who wasn’t. Too early for Alisson, Jota, Robertson and Firmino. No Van Dijk and Gomez yet due to fitness issues. Salah, Mane and Alexander Arnold played as well as new boy Konate

Manchester City

No fixture until the 27th. We will get to see presumably a first team in the Community Shield for the 7th August

Manchester United

A meaningless game against Derby won 2-1 as only Wan-Bissaka and Greenwood started who could be called first teamers. Greenwood played CF for what it’s worth

Newcastle

A rather disturbing 1-0 loss to York here when Newcastle put out a pretty strong team. Only £4.0m Manquillo is potentially of interest and he was no where to be seen. Jacob Murphy seemingly continuing the RB role. There only seems to be a full game you tube if you’re really keen and here’s the Newcastle sites match report

Also neither £4.5m GK played with Darlow having Covid and Dubravka injured so no closer to clarity there

Norwich

See my article on them

So not much to look at for Norwich. Gilmour got gametime in both games so far. £4.0m Omobamidele started both games but with no Hanley or Gibson anywhere it adds nothing to our knowledge of his very slim chances

No Pukki due to the Euros. £5.5m mid Dowell scored twice albeit against Kings Lynn. Could be worth monitoring as another cheap option as his Championship stats were actually ok

Both £4.0m GKs shared time. £4.5m Krul still on Euros rest

Kings Lynn report Lincoln report

Southampton

No match until the 27th July

Spurs

The first game a 1-1 draw v Orient saw very few first teamers on show. A back 4 in 4-2-3-1 and £6.5m mid Dele Alli at CAM were the only points of interest. No Son, Kane, Doherty or Aurier

A similar story in the 2nd game a 3-0 win at Colchester. £10.0m mid Son plays CF and scores and Dele Alli Alli again plays CAM in 4-2-3-1. Again no Kane, Doherty or Aurier

Here’s the youtube of the 2nd game and a match report

Watford

See my article on them

2 games against Colchester to start with precious little detail available on both except £6.0m Mid Sarr took a penalty which you would normally associate with Troy Deeney.

Sarr and maybe the defence/GK are the only things of interest here unless preseason unearths more.

West Ham

4 friendlies have been played if you can believe it. So context. A £4.5m Def and £5.5m Yarmolenkos Euros totally turning around Moyes negative view of him would be nice. Double checking Antonio plays CF as well

No Coufal, Soucek, Rice and Yarmolenko makes the above difficult. No sign of the injury recovering Masuaku or much of a back 3 going on. Antonio played CF when on the pitch and £6.0m mid Benrahma had some time upfront as his replacement as well. £4.0m def Ben Johnson had some gametime but I can’t believe he has any serious chance of starting

Here’s the youtube of the 3-0 West Ham win over Reading and match report

Wolves

£7.5m Fwd Jimenez started in this 3-4-3 formation 1-0 loss to Crewe with Ait Nouri as LWB which either he or the other £4.5m LWB Marcal will hold the position. £6.0m Trincao started as RW in a front 3 but Traore’s absence means there’s still clarification needed
