Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

Here’s my fantasy premier league team selection GW13 article. As is normal, I review GW12, share my transfer thoughts, captain choice and the lineup dilemmas.

Firstly if you’re new to the site my last 3 seasons overall ranks are 36k, 17k and 21k.

GW12 review

I went into alot of detail in my early thoughts on the early FFGeek team article about GW12 so I won’t repeat that. Here’s the points and the basic stats:

GW12 points: 70 (FPL average 48) Total points 663, Gameweek rank 459k, Overall Rank: 485k, green arrow 259k, Team Value: £101.9m

Here’s the points:

So a good gameweek with 70 points, a green arrow of 259k OR and an overall rank of 485k.  There’s still along way to go though and the road will be rocky and winding no doubt.

I can only be pleased with GW12 even though my 3 most expensive players, all worth £10.0m plus blanked.

Transfer thoughts

2 free transfers and £0.00 in the bank

As you may have seen in the early FFGeek team article I went through a load of different options.  My real problem as I foresaw is Aubameyang.  Despite his patchy form and a manager who can be best described as unpredictable I just can’t sell him with Southampton (H), Norwich (A) and Brighton (H) up next.  I just can’t do it.  As you may have seen in my captain analysis article Southampton haven’t been that bad away from home defensively having said that but still home or away this is a team that shipped 9 goals against Leicester.  Albeit with 10 men and they kept City to 2-1 a week later.

Given that fact about Aubameyang it put’s a different perspective on the transfer scenario. Salah’s injury doubt means a Liverpool transfer in would have to be Mane in for Sterling plus a small downgrade to Cleverley.  Getting Mane in over Salah also isn’t the end of the world.  I prefer Salah for penalties and his shooting volume but it’s still a marginal call especially with Salah’s seemingly ongoing injury niggle.

But do I need to do it this week?  A wounded City with Sterling at home to Chelsea vs Mane at Palace surely isn’t that much of a difference for 1 week?

So I end up in a situation where I could just sell Cleverley to use my free transfer and generate funds for next week to go through the whole procrastination loop again.

It’s definitely easier to put the decision off to next week.  I’ll get a better view of whether Salah is fit and I only have 2 games before I can rid myself of Aubameyang forever.

Whatever and however though next week Mane or Salah will come in.  Home to Brighton is a fixture not to be Liverpool attack less.

Ok Cleverley to who?

I won’t to down grade by at least to £4.5m and it would be nice to have someone who’s main function isn’t just to give the referee yellow card practice.

As I said in my imaginary wildcard article that’s not an easy ask.  Dendoncker would be the obvious choice but with the Wolves manager playing 3-4-3 in the last 3 games that leaves no room for him as Moutinho and Neves are surely first choice CMs. At the moment Dendoncker is playing in the back 3 but Bennett seems likely to take that position now he’s fit.

For more attacking options there’s only Brighton’s £4.5m Alzate but I worry about his longevity given Trossard being back in the team.  Alzate played last week with Trossard starting but that was at the expense of Gross which again seems a tough ask to continue.

So that just leaves Hayden or Stephens of Brighton both who epitomise the CDM yellow card magnets.  At least it means that next week I can go straight Sterling to Salah if I want and keep 2 transfers for when Aubameyang leaves.

So Cleverley to Hayden it is

Captain choice

The clear poll leader is Vardy this week and that’s where I’ll be going.  Aubameyang wasn’t the outstanding stats leader anyway despite the fixture.  I’ve gone Sterling as vice although it’s pretty irrelevant with Vardy captain.

Lineup issues

There are none this week with Tomori playing against Man City apart from the bench lineup.  I can’t see City not scoring which is why Tomori is bottom of the bench.  With Cantwell not starting that means Hayden is thrust into the limelight.
