Fantasy Premier League, imaginary wildcard

Here’s our fantasy premier league GW3 wildcard tips where we pretend we are using our wildcard. It gives player tips with more longevity than just for the up coming gameweek

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW3 WILDCARD TIPS – OUR IMAGINARY WILDCARD

This is a short article where I’m pretending I’m using my wildcard to give you player picks with more longevity than the next game. It’s short as there are no stats. I’ve given links to articles below with all the detail

Firstly, I’m holding onto my wildcard for the moment. If I had to name a time I will use it that would probably be around GW10 but it depends on circumstances

In this article there are no stats just some brief narrative on the selection below. There’s stats in the player ranking articles which can be found here using the links below

Player rankings defence and GK

There’s also  the Pogba or Mkhitaryan article our fixture ease article which gives player suggestions with good fixtures.  There’s also our underlying stats article if you want to see who’s posting the best shot and key pass stats etc

The Team

Here’s the team. It’s cost is £100.1m and is intended to play in a flexible 4-3-3 formation

Structure

I’ve gone for a flexible 4-3-3.  Jones, Alderweireld and Alonso would play every week with Britos and Mee rotating.  Davis and Carroll could potentially step in to make it 3-4-3 if required.  Only 2 realistic captain picks though in Lukaku and Kane who don’t rotate very well home and away.

Defence and GK

In goal I’ve kept with my current partnership of Foster and Elliot.  Elliot is a £4.0m GK and Foster is still the cheapest route into the WBA defence that has good fixtures ahead.  While WBA Hegazi is only £0.2m more he does have a challenge when fit from McAuley at least.

In defence I started with Spurs who have good fixtures coming up.  Davies has excellent attacking potential but while I’m happy to hold him in my team buying him now with Rose supposedly back in GW4 holds some risk so I’ve gone for the extra expense and safety of Alderweireld.

Jones is next as the cheapest route into the Man Utd defence.  I don’t think he’s as safe as Bailly or Valencia but his price makes up for the additional risk.

Lastly in the core defence,  I’ve gone for the LWB come winger in Alonso who showed against Spurs what a potent attacker he can be with 2 goals.

Then there’s the rotation of Mee and Britos who I do think have clean sheet potential

Midfield

Mane has started off as the most potent of the Liverpool midfielders and has the best underlying stats as well.

I’ve doubled up on Man United players with their good start by putting Mkhitaryan in.  As I said above I’ve done and article comparing him and Pogba which may help your choice.  If you want to spread your risk a little more then Silva of Man City would be my choice

Lastly of the 3 regular midfielders I’ve gone for Richarlison after his great start.  You can see more detail on him in my whats going on with Watford article.

Tom Carroll is my £4.5m bench warmer although he does have some attacking potential.  For the other midfielder who will also warm the bench in 4-3-3 I’ve gone for Steven Davis of Southampton.  He surprisingly took Ward Prowse’s place as a CAM and although comes with gametime risk could be a handy acquisition.

Forwards

Hopefully Lukaku I shouldn’t need to explain.

Harry Kane as well with Burnley at home next.  Kane leads the shots in the box stat and has hit the post twice plus had a goal disallowed.  I’m of the view he will come good.

Lastly I’ve gone for Chicharito due to his good fixtures and good start.  In underlying stats only Rodriguez has had more shots in the 6 yard box.

Issues

I like this team but it doesn’t have a Sanchez or a GW4 solution.  I’ve talked about GW4 in my early thoughts on the FFGeek team

GW4 is a captain issue and the reason why I’d be reluctant to Wildcard now.  Kane is at Everton and Lukaku at Stoke neither of which are great captain options.  Arsenal are at home to Bournemouth.  Who will lead the captain polls is a bit of an unknown.  Sanchez if he travels to South America in the International break, coupled with his fitness issues may not be a captain option.  Lacazette maybe but I think he would need to do something special this weekend.  City are home to Liverpool in GW4 so they would need to put up some good numbers to be an option in that game for captains.  It’s all a bit uncertain.   I have seen some managers talking about Chicharito against Huddersfield but captaining a West Ham player at the moment is a bit of a stretch for me.

If I was wildcarding now would I cater for it by making space for either Sanchez or Lacazette?  I’m not sure as  it’s all a bit fluid and does really negate the reason for a wildcard

Remember to vote in ourGW3  captain poll and make any comments on reasoning
