So I’ve made changes to my earlier draft which was based on 2 £10m +premiums. For my other draft, I’ve put a Threemium together…and I actually quite like it! The major concessions on this Threemium are no the premium defenders. This Threemium does retain an £8m midfield spot though and puts Kane in as the 3rd premium player. There is scope to jiggle the defence around if there become cheap options at the likes of Chelsea and Man City.

As I soak in more information, it’s becoming clear that the first few gameweeks is going to boil down to a game of Effective Ownership chicken. If you go with the high EO players, you are pretty much guaranteeing you’re not going to start with a GW rank down in the 4 millions. You probably won’t however be in the top 500k at the end of GW1 or 2. If you gamble and take on the high EO options (say with Kane, Son or De Bruyne) you could get off to a real flyer, but you could also be punished if your gamble blanks and the likes of Jesus or Haaland go big. You could have a GW1 or rank of 40k or 4 million depending on what the outcomes are. You’re not going to win FPL in GW1, but you sure can leave yourself a mountain to climb. I guess this depends on how brave you feel.

Rick Porter

Rick’s last 6 seasons ORs were 38k, 1k, 29k, 1k, 30k and 2k.

Not a huge amount of changes from my very first draft despite a fairly lively pre-season so far. Barring a real upset, I can’t see a core of my players leaving. My bench is pretty set as well.

That only leaves five spots to fill and that’s where some choices have to made. I need two cheapish mids.

That’s leaves me with 1.0m spare for an upgrade somewhere. Of course, a lot will still depend on what the next couple of weeks turn up.
